Ok got past the Octoblue boss after an hour and a half. Finally got the recovery skill. This game is seriously addicting.
ETA: Now I'm at the Devil boss only at level 309.

Wow, I didn't realize that the combination of equipment leads to different skills. Alright, alright
I was just thinking certain items came with certain skills. We should share some sort of google doc and keep track of combos we come across. Continue the work of what you posted earlier. I have to get my hands of some of this recover and life steal skills.

Is increasing luck the only way to increase my chances of getting pets? I can't for the life of me get the zomble pet.

What does the Zomble even look like? When did he show up for you? I am stuck at the boss for 5.8k, he is one shotting me still (1k health - 200 VIT)

This is what the Zomble looks like. When I got it I was around 9.0-9.2 but it may show up before that.

Yeah that sucks in the beginning but eventually you'll get absorption (I use thiefswd and vampcape for this) and recovery skills and it'll be easier to keep your health up.

Just started playing this game yesterday, at 5000 experience level. When you die do you always go back to the castle at the beginning (if you don't have a rise up item of couse)? Or are there more castles that you can start at after you finish different levels (are there different levels)?

U always start at the first castle when u die. After u get a little farther in the game u get the tunnel. When u take the tunnel , you cover more ground screen to screen.

So I've been trying to kill Shady and failing. Try to kill him with a Bazooka but get killed after one hit. So I'm lying there, about to hit return when I notice a funny thing.
When I hit him before he killed me, it only took off a sliver of his life, but apparently it poisoned him
I just lay there dead as the poison slowly but surely ate his health away, then when it was all gone I used a rise up and killed him. Easy as pie.

I just killed the fire boss and made it to 14.2 before I died. I'm only level 690 so I'm going to level up a good bit before I take on Shady. BTW is there somewhere to buy items and I'm missing it?
