Yeah I'm a hustler and don't mind earning my keep. I usually work circles around coworkers. I'm driven once I'm put on a task.
And if I can find a 8-5 m-f that would be awesome. I'm not looking for anyone to break the bank to give me a chance. Given I'd still be able to hustle up my freelance bartending and pay my bills as I'm doing now.

I could probably help but it would not be anything local to NOLA. TX or PA.

I know you'd help if you could... good ol baugh Cuz Bush
Honestly I've been complacent the last couple months instead of really putting my nose to the grind stone.
I know with my past and me switching industries early as often, need to put in that much more work and be that much more determined than the next man when looking for a change of scenery. And I haven't held up my end of the bargain. The last 2 new jobs I started recently ended up being a complete waste of my and their time... but it's on me.

You IT guys need to look at relocating. IT people make great money up here (Northern Virginia) and if you get the right certs you can really do well. There are data centers all over and there are entry level positions to be had. I've seen dozens of NOC technicians use data centers as their entry and path to getting certs to move on to bigger and better things.
If the work isn't where you are and you are young and without strings get off your arse and go where the jobs are.

The engineering and construction company that I just left on good terms has projects all over the world. They always have steady work in Indonesia and Australia as well. If you ever really want to relocate or anything hit me up and I can make some calls for foreign or domestic.

Never had a company that didn't provide an allowance or give you a phone. It's in their beast interest for you to not have company info that you can keep when you leave on your own phone

I've read about half this thread. I will say, the few millennial I have personally dealt with have been eager entreprenuial spirits with specific plans.
Most of the threads I read are about how irked these people are at not having achieved at 25 what their folks have achieved at a semi similar age. That's just being a titty baby unless you prove to me you put in the same effort looking for the same opportunity.

A lot of the baby boomers went to work for a company at age 18 with a good work ethic and advanced their way up through hard work. Its different than little Dakota coming out of college at age 23 expecting big money right off the bat.
Okay I didn't read this thread in it's entirety but this is fricking bull shite
You can't get a job with a company at age 18 and "work your way up" except in a few specific fields.
My dad barely graduated from high school and never sniffed going to college. He has a job today that you have to have a masters degree to get now and he starting salary is less than 1/4 of what he makes for the exact same job he does.
That isn't possible anymore

Can anybody get a job these days without a phone number or email?
How will they communicate with their future employer?

IMHO, people are thinking this thread is about jobs further down the line, but in reality, the problems are with people finding that initial job related to what they want to do. That's why the girl in the OP is slinging coffee or whatever. Opportunities just aren't there for a new grad. Because of that, you have tens of thousands of people getting out of college with huge debt and no way to pay it off.
Just wait until all of these people turn 40 and don't make enough money to pay for all of the old farts who refused to hire them and refused to retire. That'll be a SHTF scenario if things don't change soon

You can get a gophone with basic voice for pretty cheap.

Unfortunately the days of the hardest - best workers making it to the top seem to be ending. Now days the go getter gets the heavier load without the compensation

I'm surprised SS hasn't landed a gig simply due to the amount of people be mist encounter in the service industry. I have a stack of business cards from service industry regulars.

I work for a fortune 50 company in TX and they are constantly hiring IT/Systems coordinators starting at 77k a year with 401K, Pension and health. Plus yearly scorecard bonus. Hell, they are hiring people in waves by the hundreds for entry level positions starting at 45k with all aforementioned benefits. The jobs are out there.
