It's completely real... I mean I kinda Hamm'd it up a little not just kinda being a jackass for this shite show of a thread...
But also I've been between some jobs and a career recently with just going back to school in the last couple years...
It's no secret to tr OT that I'm currently looking for an opportunity since right now I'm working what I would call two dead end jobs just putting meat on the table and bourbon in my belly.

Glassman should be able to at least get you a few invites to be interviewed. His family pretty much IS New Orleans.

well thats enough internet for me today
And frick it doesn't hurt to try,.. I've seen people get opportunities thrown their way from more unconventional means than this

And I have to disagree. A college grad with no experience is too general. What degree? Did they work through college? Play sports? Work over summers? Graduate early? Awards? Did they study up on the specific job they're interviewing for?
That new grad would be valuable to a lot of places.

How many entry level people truly need their phone to conduct business?
Posted on 1/14/17 at 7:41 pm to Captain_Awesome06
I know this is little consolation, but my employer doesn't provide a phone. We get a small allowance. And we're still expected to be available 24/7. But it is what it is. Until you're in charge, you can't change it.

I didn't know you were between jobs, SS. Sorry to hear. Also, I assume every OT post is a lie, troll or insult.

quote:The whole point of this thread is getting a proper entry-level job isn't available anymore. Work hard or not, jobs are very scarce, so new grads are settling. The only reason I got one is because I am fortunate enough not to need to work, and because the entire process pissed me off enough where I didn't quit. I 100% understand why people take shite jobs because I have been, and am currently in their position. If you haven't been in this position recently, you wouldn't understand the predicament we all face.
you don't negotiate the terms at the entry level
We get to listen to boomers and early Gen-X'ers incessantly complain about not having competent or reliable workers applying, yet they don't hire people at all, or hire candidates based on the wrong reasons. The problem is caused by them, not by a lack of good applicants or reliable workers.
quote:I have a lot, but living in South LA and trying to land a legitimate part-time job is absolutely brutal right now. Hell, I still have family members and friends who won't hire me because they are still laying people off. I've even been turned down when I offered to work for free.
Not everyone naturally has connections, and sure as hell not everyone gets an internship making $15 an hour like you insinuated earlier.

But knowing this board and the people I've met, I doubt there would be anyone that is a regular poster that would give my resume a new honest look.... but it's the person that lurks more than post that might be actually looking for someone to fill a spot.... I don't see what the big deal is of me posting that..
Am I off the hinges right now Unc Reb? I have been drinking tonight... and

You wanna do sales for a career? I can ask if my parents need anybody. Pretty solid job as far as I know. If you still live downtown, it's very convenient

I'm hiring...I guarantee you'll make more than 90% of your peers if you're a recent grad and can hold a conversation.

Naw...control center operations for one of the largest midstream terminals in the country.

Thankfully, I'm very hard to find online. I go by a nickname to everyone I know, so I am not listed in any FB pics. My only social media is TD, so they won't be able to find me when doing a background check. Basically, all they can get is my credit stuff and the fact that I got a DWI in 2000. Nothing else will come up unless they illegally obtain information

I can't speak for all professions, but as an employee in IT, it can be necessary. In order for me to remote back to work while on call, I have to use it as part of dual factor authentication. Enter my password to the VPN client and also have to accept a phone call from the program.

Can't get that expunged? Probably a slight issue.

So not an entry level job that starts out at less than $45k, I'd imagine.
