Huh? I'm referring to the chart that was posted previously.

Not Dallas Proper, the suburbs.
And the suburbs are growing yuge population centers if you live in the area.

However, from 2015 to June 2017, there has been a 9-10 percent annual increase in home prices and about an 8.9 percent increase in appraisal values across Collin County, said Derek Baker, a McKinney Realtor with Keller Williams North Collin County.
“I honestly don’t see there’s any reason to expect any change [in the housing market],” he said. “Meaning we are still going to have high demand all across Collin County, especially [in]McKinney and Frisco and [Allen and Plano], plus Prosper.”
9-10% increase and it's still 30-60 minutes from Dallas.

Everyone else has had it easier than me. That’s what every generation says. I think it’s just part of life as we all like to think we are superior and at minimum above average.
I’m very fortunate that I’ve had a good job right out of grad school and that my parents could support me through college and grad school, but I busted my arse in engineering and do so now to make sure my family lives comfortably.

Millenials aren't getting married, middle class is defined by household income.
Two can live cheaper than one, unless one is a child.
A two person household used to be a husband and wife, now it is a single mother and her child.
Yep not married no child.
Not saying I don't want those things. I just see the financial requirements involved and wont just knock up any random woman with no career.

Things moronic boomers believe with zero proof. Same group of idiots that thought a game show host would "save" this country.
They act like these "shitty" degrees are a new thing. The Humanities programs have been around for decades, but let's blame one generation for them. The difference is 30-40+ years ago you could fairly easily find a good paying post-grad job with a "shitty" degree.

A shite ton of people make it in NYC for that, it's just now what most on this board would consider comfortable. The numbers are what they are. When you're making more than 30% of the households in your area, you're middle class.

Yeah you're sharing a closet sized apartment with 2 roommates.
Life ain't Friends where you get 1800+ 2 BR on a chef and waitress salary.

And I get that, it's just nice to have a reality check every once in a while. Have to keep things in perspective while you grind.

Getting married usually makes things easier from a financial standpoint assuming your wife works. Kids, not so much

Notice how this article focuses on "millennials". The middle class is dying across the country to matter what generation you're from.
quote:I've heard this for thirty years. People always think they have it the worst.
Nowadays, a college grad has a frickton of debt, rising rent prices, and a job that doesn't pay shite. We can't have every expense keep rising while wages stagnate. It's not sustainable in the long run.

I know that, I'm just point out that it happens every day. Everyone has their own view of comfort or standard of living, which is fine, but people are very clearly getting by on those numbers in those cities.

From the article...
Wilson said since 2011 the Dallas-Fort Worth area has seen “an incredible influx” of jobs—to the tune of 600,000 positions—which has put an increasing strain on the market.
Aka - too many people chasing too few goods.

Yeah I was expanding on your point, not disagreeing.

If you can't afford the area where you live, you move. Simply because you're struggling with a middle income in a booming area does not mean the middle class as a whole is doomed.
