Just curious, did you try a Chevy Equinox?
They are giving it a slight restyle for 2022 and adding some new features. If you want an Equinox, I'd wait for the updated model. It's still the same car, but it looks a little more modern:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AVOID THE GM 2.4L MIDSIZE SUV'S AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
I don't think they make this engine anymore. Definitely not in the Equinox. All the domestic companies are all using global turbo engines - mostly designed in Europe or Korea.

Thanks for the warning. A four day rental does not equal an ownership experience!!

But I need one that can be towed 4 down behind my motorhome and that rules out a lot of them.
Jeep Wrangler, CRV, and Equinox can be dingy towed I think.
The Ford Focus can be dingy towed, so that might mean the Escape and Bronco Sport could be as well.
Surprisingly few options.

I have a Wrangler now. I want to get rid of it. Motorhome Magazine does a towing guide each year that shows what can be towed. But like you said, the pickings are slim.

Hyundai is the warranty
Hyundai is a fantastic brand with the only negative being resell value down the road. I have a 2013 Elantra that I've had since new. Best vehicle I've ever owned. I really need an SUV in the fleet, but the Elantra is so damn good for trips around town I'm afraid of downgrading.
I bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty, which is negotiable. It has been in the shop a few times: a couple of times early on for a sensor/immobilizer receiver issue for reading the key fob. A couple of times later on for what eventually was diagnosed as alternator giving some electrical issues. It took a couple of times to diagnose because it was not consistent and had to eventually fail-fail.
$0 out of pocket spent on repairs after initial extended warranty purchase. The warranty (or dealer) even covered some consumables that they probably shouldn't have covered like battery, alternator, etc.
In fact, including consumables (oil changes, tires, brakes, battery, etc), I have spent less than $2000 out of pocket the entire time I've owned it.
IMO, to get equal or better feel as competitors, the Hyundai needs to at least be Limited trim level. I'm a Hyundai lifer now and if they ever come out with a full size truck, I'd hang truck nuts on the back and call it my own.

They are all the same.
The only ones that I hate are probably the Ford Escape and the GMC Terrain. The styling of both just annoys me.
The Subaru Forester is nice.

i really hate the terrain and the old escape style, but i like the newer model.

the mid 2010s model reminded me of a focus.

I bought a 2020 SEL new last year with 0% financing. Great car with tons of bells and whistles.

the old lady has a 2021 Highlander Hybrid Platinum and loves it. Great gas mileage.

This was discussed earlier. The correct answer is a 2006 Z71 Tahoe.

My wife loves her Atlas.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Hyundai or a Kia for that matter these days. They’re holding up well so, if you like the way it feels and drives, I’d go for it.

Wife had a 2016 SanteFe, was in a terrible accident where she flipped twice, was able to walk away without a scratch.
Next decision was a no brainer, 2020 SanteFe.
Great safe reliable cars

My 2017 Ultimate has 109k and has been bulletproof. No issues. Dealership has-been great (& I usually HATE dealerships...
That particular engine supposedly had issues so they retroactively offered a complete lifetime warranty on the entire engine & trans so I'll be keeping it's while.
Service manager said they get a claim every now & then butHYUNDAI honors it. He said they just replaced one free with 200k+ miles, so we'll see...

Family has had three I think.
They've all been wonderful.
Zero issues on anyone of them.
I'd buy one without blinking an eye.
