I was on Lexapro 10mg daily for about 2 years. Issues came up and anxiety won the day. Doctor switched me to Cymbala, which you have to use as directed. Take the 30mg and at day 10 switch to 60mg. I haven’t looked back and happy as a lark, performing better at my job and my domestic situation has improved. This is my experience only and as one person already wrote here, it’s like a dartboard. My advice is keep playing

Dumb question. But why not just pop a Zanex when shite gets out of hand? 30 minutes and it kicks in??

Maybe if you don’t have insurance. A 30-day rx should run about $30.

I tried Lexapro. I couldn’t have an orgasm which made me more depressed. I don’t take anything now and I feel fine.

Has anyone had any luck with CBD and anxiety/depression?
If so can you recommend?

You must have pretty awesome insurance. You almost always need a prior auth and most insurances dont have it on their formulary. They'll only cover part of it until the patient meets their deductible (mine is high as shite). The length of these pharma patents is criminal. Vyvanse came out like 20 years ago and they STILL get renewed, which means no generics

I take an anti-depressant,Celexa,only because I can't sleep without it.
The sleeping problem came about after I stopped taking the 1st anti-depressant I was prescribed.
So,I have to take it because I was foolish enough to take it the 1st time.
Everyone's different.
I hope your experience is better than mine if you start taking an anti-depressant.
Sounds like you're doing everything that you can do for yourself.
Best of luck to you.

Heard people report anecdotal improvement. Rat studies showed decreased physiological stress response vs placebo as well as decrease in inflammatory markers (which indirectly cause depression). Enough evidence for me..and plus I've tried it.
Caution though, do NOT get "full spectrum" CBd oil if you have even a remote chance of a drug test at work, as you will test positive. Instead go for an isolate.
I used these guys for pain and found it helped me sleep and made me less anxious

They tried to charge me an outrageous sum for the meds. I told my GP I wasn't filling it because of the price, and he helped me secure a reasonable price for it.

Buspirone
This helped me tremendously with curbing panic attacks (I went through a year or so when I was 25ish where I’d get them multiple times a week). It was great but I had to stop taking it as it made me insanely lightheaded and dizzy anytime I stood up.

Listen to your doctor, give them time to settle in and if you feel bad after an extended time - your doctor can get you on something new or you can decide to try and go with a non medicated approach again.
Also, remember that people who have had a bad experience are much more likely to go online and post about it.

quote:I'm on a low dosage of SSRI at the moment (it's my first time on any type of medication for mental health). It isnt a fix but the ups and downs are not as intense. I don't get super angry or sad. I will be getting off of them as soon as possible so I purposely chose a low dosage.
For every 10 reviews of SSRIs saving peoples lives I read another 10 saying whatever you do don’t take them. I just hate the feeling of giving in to meds.

Ask about Lorazepam at 1mg doses. That worked wonders for me as far as an anti-anxiety drug is concerned. I took it as directed, only when necessary and had the prescription only re-filed once.
"I believe my brain thinks danger is near anytime I have pain or feel sore."
The other half would be convincing yourself that your anxiety is based in you mind. Attack that the "danger" isn't real when you feel the panic attack coming on.
That helped me as well. Good luck.
Lorazepam is great for when you need it in a stressful situation. But as with everything your body adjusts to the medication the more you take it. .5 mg use to do the trick for me, now I have to take up to 2mg. However I rarely take it now so I think my medication regiment is effective!
I also take Prozac and Abilify. I’ve been diagnosed with GAD and have some OCD tendencies. Medication and therapy have done wonders for me.
But one thing is for sure it doesn’t change overnight it can take years to overcome these conditions so be patient!

This I’ve been on two different SSRI’s and I’ve been happy with it. I actually came off my first medication to early and some of the old symptoms came back. The SSRI’s seem to work for me but it is some trial and error.

Similar. Auto related accident. Subsequent PTSD like symptoms. Serious health issue with Mrs. M. concurrent with that had me being Mom and Dad for considerable period.
Panic attacks ensued which were rather severe. Some short term anti-anxiety meds offered some relief. And was prescribed an anti-depressant. I suffered the side effects you noted as well as losing a competitive and aggressive edge my work required and quit the meds all together.
I finally paid attention to the subtle and often barely imperceptible precursors signaling an onset of a panic attack and got ahead of it.
This was prior to retiring, and when one came on, I went into our warehouse and grabbed a 10'/4"diameter length of conduit and worked out with it. I got kettle bells in my office and had a couple of 20 lb barbells in my vehicle. I'd work out until the spell passed. I found great comfort in knowing what was happening and that it would pass and that I wasn't at its mercy. All of that and I pray regularly, then and now.
That's as honest and impartial an opinion as I can offer based on my personal experience.
Knowing exactly what your adversary is and how and when it operates against you gives you knowledge and power over it. Use what you know.
Don't let this situation overcome and master you. You can, and will, beat it.
Prayers, good luck, and best wishes.

Thanks man that’s great feedback. Since you were in an accident and had PTSD one thing I struggle with is kind of a chicken and an egg. I have moderate pain below my left shoulder blade from the accident and years of bad posture and working on a computer. So now anytime my body feels pain I go into panic fight or flight mode. I’m wondering if I should tackle this from a pain management perspective or an antidepressant.
Basically if I take care of the pain will my depression go away or if my depression goes away with the pain get better? I think that’s the million dollar question and I think there’s probably thousands of other people dealing with the same scenario. I now understand why people in chronic pain are also very depressed
