so the black posters that said if the gorilla was albino he wouldn't have been shot are racist?

I just don't think people know what racism means anymore...joking about a race is not racist.

I'm not outraged or offended. I just think it sucks that people pretend they're not racists and get pissed when black people still claim racism is very prevalent.
I think people like that damage race relations just as much as the piece of shite race baiters like Jesse Jackson do.

you do realize we are currently in a racially divided society, correct? God forbid some of us wish that were not the case.

Are you implying we should just let bigots be bigots? On a public message board that represents LSU?

disingenuous isn't even the word to describe some of these responses

Interesting irony.

All people can see things and have them register but some won't admit it due to political correctness. So who is really being disingenuous?

Put another way, would an outer space visitor with no idea of human society not see any resemblance in some of these pictures?

we live in a currently racially divided society. God forbid some of us wish that were not the case, and mention it. We should all take meauxjeaux and topwater trout's approach and just look at racist comments as jokes so that we can make the racists not feel like racists.

You are, or you're not being honest with your posts in this thread. And that's OK either way. Of course, your offended-ness (faux or real) doesn't really entitle you to anything special.

Intent has everything to do with it. I have the ability to read between the lines, because I have a functioning brain.

Is Malik Agar black?

Regardless, saying the an albino gorilla would have been spared is much, much different than saying the kid was confused because the gorilla and his mother look so much alike. Surely you can understand the difference.

An entity not based in our society's norms could easily say there is some resemblance from the pictures based on size, tone, and other features. Just like they could do for white people or other races. Who hasn't seen images of individual animals that resemble individual people?

But, the logic above isn't 'correct' so people will start bleating racism like they are trained to do.

holy shite we have jokes about everyone...it isn't only limited to color. So basically we should do away with all jokes about groups of people? or just against black people?

The frick? What kind of spin is this? So the person saying the woman looks like the gorilla is being genuine and saying what we all really feel?

This is what I hate about the backlash against PC - people don't know how to be a good person any more. There is such a rush to stick up for people who are anti-PC that you can find yourself supporting some outlandish and hateful shite as a result.

I'm anti-PC, but I'm also not a piece of shite who feels the need to defend someone who said the black mother looks like a gorilla. God forbid we call someone out on it.

I understand the difference but I also understand some posters are just trying to be edgy or funny...based on that comment I can't conclude that a person I have never met is racist

As do I, and I've said as much in this thread. However, it is such a regular occurrence on this board that I've got little doubt there are quite a few racists who enjoy the anonymity that the board brings. I'm not losing sleep over it, and it is to be expected given the demographics of the board, but that doesn't mean I have to condone it either.
