Damn! That's rough.
Yea and those numbers are from 2010!
That’s what I’m trying to say. Anyone who has worked with admissions or a residency knows this shite has been going on for a long time.
It’s gotten so egregious recently that the general public is starting to find out.

This has been going on for decades in medical school admissions. Perhaps your own program ramped up their efforts or your own personal line was crossed 5-7 years ago, but this is not a recent thing.
Maybe I did not state it clearly enough. We have considered minority status for 30 years but only in the context of “a background from a poor school system”. Those kids had a slightly higher failure rate vs the traditional students but it was a good trade off.
Now - if an African American candidate who went to a prep school and then went to Vandy applies - their admission standards are much lower.
Why??? That student had every advantage any other student had.
That is the difference.
1. Skin tone is #1
2. Moving a GPA from a 3.65 range to a 3.25 range is scary for the future of medicine.
Anyone with more than a handful of B’s in college cannot likely process information fast enough to be proficient in medicine. It’s a fact. A 3.25 means you earned almost as many B as A grades over 4 years. That is not a strong applicant.

It’s even worse in residency programs.
We are talking about someone who just completed 4 years of medical school. What disadvantage did they have on the tests?

I understood perfectly what you are saying, but I disagree with it.

Again, this has been happening for decades - not a new development in the past 5-7 years.

Absolutely.... this is nothing knew for those in medical. It's also taking place in other sectors such as Veterinarian medicine and I'd imagine Dentistry as well.

i dont think this has been as much as an issue in vet med. i havent seen admission data in a few years though. We are a different beast than the medical school system though.
