Can only count to 9 3/4 now.

That recovery is gonna suck. Getting the nerves back at the end of your finger is a painful process.

If you get a prescription for percocet, your next problem might be finding a pharmacy to fill it. I got a percocet script and CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid wouldn't fill it. Went to an independent pharmacy, where I knew a girl who was the manager, and they filled it.

I'm just glad you're ok and didn't die

Sure. You might come off like a drug seeker, but sure
Too late now, but no clue why the OP would go to a free standing ER for something like that.

So I cut a piece off of my thumb last night and had to go the emergency room. It wasn't at a hospital just an independent place. Well, the strongest pain meds they can give me is tramadol 50mg which absolutely does nothing for my pain.
Saw your pic. Tramadol is bullshite. This country is so fricked up. Twenty years ago, they were saying narcotics weren't prescribed nearly enough. Now, they're saying that they should never be prescribed.

Do it.

Don't be a pussy. Take some Advil with the Tramadol. You can take two Tramadol anyway. It's easier to buy heroine on the street than get strong pain pills out of a Doctor

Well they were the closest to where I live, so that's where we went, had I known they didn't do stronger pain meds than tramadol 50mg I would've gone somewhere else

I lopped off a smaller chunk than that and it was painful as shite.. I had to go back and get some loritabs because the er doc told me to take some Advil.. Apparently the ends of fingers have a serious amount of nerves that when opened with that type of cut will be extremely painful for a few days until the deaden which was the case with mine.. Took the pills for two days then nothing..

Good chance the ER will ask why he didn't go see his own doctor for the follow up visit and get stronger meds there. He will sit in the waiting room for hours depending on how busy it is and then be discharged with instructions to follow up with his own doctor.

They don't make Lortab anymore

I'm not trying to get super strong pain pills, just something stronger than what I have, I did take Advil with 2 tramadol and it literally did nothing, I've iced it all day and as soon as the ice comes off the pain comes back.
I'm going to a doc tomorrow, if he won't call me in something then I'll just suck it up

This was in 2000
still missing a small piece from my thumb, not really noticeable unless I hold it up to my other thumb

Did they sew you up with 300# test Marlin leader? Yikes.

You'll be wasting your time. They may write you for Tylenol #3. But that's it. Anything stronger is triplicate. Nobody gets norco anymore. Many ER docs and GPs don't want to deal with triplicates. It gets worse. I've discharged folks with fractures, kidney stones, obvious dental abscesses (swelling) all with tramadol. It is really sad to not be able to give what's been proper medication for the last 20-30 years.
Were they over prescribed? Absolutely. But to take them away is a pound of prevention for an ounce of cure. Monitor the docs more. Make a database accessible to MDs so they can find real drug seekers.

I did exactly that with a chefs knife chopping onions real fast. Dropped my thumb down and cut the corner off. I didn't go to ER though. I just cleaned it and iced it and bandaged it. Hurt like a son bitch for about a week.
Just deal with the throbbing pain for a week and don't waste your money on a trip to the ER. They will likely tell you what you have should be sufficient and not give you a script.
