You can't really be this dense. So you think the Holocaust Museum in Washington displaying artifacts from Nazi Germany in their museum is the same as the city of Washington erecting a statue of Hitler in their streets and hanging swastikas from the street posts? I swear to god I lose brain cells every time I come on this site

The point is that this whole ordeal is a rabbit hole.

Then you should stop coming here, because you can't afford to lose much.

think because things aren't as shitty here as they are in those places where they have actual things to worry about therefore limiting the need to cry about inconsequential matters

I'd suspect you're mostly right, though I'd add in that the population there doesn't like to erase the past too.

No one cared about the monuments until Mitch decided to take them done. Now for nearly two years people hav paid more attention to this issue than the failing NOPD>

BS. Since I was a kid I would always visit at least Jackson Square when I went. Even hung around Jackson Square during my days living in NOLA. Everytime friends ask me where to go when in NOLA, I will say Jackson Square, WWII museum etc. I think those parts of the city are better than the piss and throw up odored streets. So, I think people actually give a F about them. It is the complainers who just took interest because they were told to that now have a problem.

Yep, it'll be Louis Armstrong or MLK square. Those are the only two names allowed for monuments, streets, etc in NOLA.

I have a suggestion. A statue memorializing this tragic time in New Orleans' past check's all of the boxes for SJWs.

Yes, I am. Because it's a stupid question, stemming from a silly and irrational premise put forth by a person who has no intention of being reasoned with in the first place.

So go ahead and shite all over the board and declare victory, pigeon.

They have to ethnically cleanse the history first before the evil white devil can be excorcised.

I don't know how I feel about this. Yes, the civil war is over, but what happened and the people and places that were a part of it are a part of US history and shaped how we got to where we are. If you look at them simply as acknowledging that part of our history, how objectionable can it be? Should we also tear down fort sumter?

But on the flip side, some people will claim that those people represented racism and slavery. But on the flip side of the flip side, does every single person need to be ok with every single monument for it to remain?

some of those WWII soldiers were probably racist, so yes.

i'd imagine some of those soldiers probably even came back and lynched some people in the 50s/60s.

Had no idea and I just visited the WWII museum a few months ago. I probably should go check that out before that too is erased from memory like it never happened.

Fort Sumter was actually part of the Civil War. The statues were not. They were erected by revisionists promoting the Lost Cause ideology.
