re: Maybe we can all agree... There is a culture problem... It's not racism.

I agree with this. The cultural problem also extends to the social requirement that every non-black person be apologetic for sins committed by other non-black people who committed atrocities 200 years ago. My ancestors were mostly native American. The white part did not come in to this country until the 1880s. But because I look white, I must be apologetic for what other white people (unrelated to me) did 2 centuries ago? My people were forced off their land and had to make a name for themselves at a time when being a Native American was not a good thing in any way shape or form. And they did. They didn't become wealthy, but they became respected members of their communities and didn't whine about the Trail of Tears the whole time. But, you can't point out these inconsistencies because anything you say that does not jive with the accepted script is considered racism.

Between all the threads that have popped up since the incident at OU (and, frankly, over the years) there are going to be to many layers to peel back and too many fires to fight. You may as well concede the minor points that underpin these people's sense of racial grievance.
I will say that as of yesterday's reposting of George Lincoln Rockwell's 12th grade term paper on Race and Society (59 upvotes and counting), I'm comfortable putting to bed the idea that white racism is all a figment of my imagination.

Well shite, I guess I owe you an apology for the small pox blankets. Maybe I should give you money too. Even though my ancestors didn't come here til after 1900, I'm still white.

I started this exact thread 2 years ago and it was anchored. Good luck!

You owe me nothing. And I owe nothing to anyone else but myself and my family

The attirudes on this board are why race relations "are widening."
Many of you have antiquated racial views that border on the line of "bigotry." Which is fair, considering the people that many of you have have descended from were flat out bigots. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so they say.
Time heels, and backwards beliefs pass with time. Time will be the best remedy for our nation moving forward.
Kids born in 2008 will only know a black man and a black family as the most powerful family in the world. Images like that will
Pay dividends moving forwards.

Obama and Hilder werent correct in every decision they made, but history will look back on them favorably.
Remember what the segregationist were saying in the 50s and 60s? Well they were making the same arguments that manh of you still laud, just with different context. It's hard not to predict how this will end.

I think racism, for the most, part is pretty much dead.
Sure, there are still some uneducated fricktard window lickers that hate people because of their skin color. But I don't see a whole lot of that.
Your error is defining racism as "hating people because of their skin color".

i think making a statement about culture, especially with confirmation that culture is the issue across races, is a step forward
i mean you have 2 real options to explain the issues: culture or racial supremacy/inferiority. the quoted post referenced (which was posted in the comments section of a yahoo article) is your "racial inferiority" argument. the vast majority of posters on here will not agree with that (for good reason). that leaves culture.
the very recent discussions are sparked by that video from indy that shows the culture being referenced on full display

Why? Because there are those of us that call people out for stupidity regardless of color but we're racist right?
Ain't that special

so that's not racism anymore? that was "racism" for hundreds of years
i define racism as judging a person solely on their race, which makes a clear, objective definition. it also accounts for "positive racism" (like the shite asians face quite often) and "reverse racism" (because minorities can judge white people solely on skin color, too)

Agreed. You should modify your racist attitude, SS.

Care to explain this one?
Locking people up for non violent offenses is not moral. It separates families and prevents those people from being able to get jobs when they get out. Also, if they are addicts, prison does not give them the treatment they need to overcome the addiction. Why does America, the city on the hill, have the most prisoners per capita than any other nation in history?

The Venn diagram of people whose ancestors were oppressed vs. people whose ancestors were oppressors doesn't overlap nearly as well as some race baiters portray.
