i actually just think hes an illegal and the security is there for his own protection...in case that info gets out

I'm certainly not a conspiracy nut but I think it's pretty clear the FBI is covering up some pretty stunning details to all of this. I'm not even sure what those details are. But both the lack of information, as well as the false information has made this abundantly clear.

Yeah I get where you're going with this, but he would be protected for his own safety since he is one of only 2 people who had any reported contact with Paddock during the shooting. My point stands

Your point doesn't really stand. If it was all Paddock who is dead, no other persons involved, then who are they guarding him from? My only point is there has to be a better reason.
Seems like either they think Campos was involved and they're "guarding" him while they build the case because they don't have enough to charge him yet, or they think someone else was involved which he may have information on and they're genuinely guarding him for his safety and/or to keep him quiet while they pursue that lead.
Maybe no one else was involved but they think there's enough reason to suspect one of the two above situations and are just working that out.
