They are claiming that they shot in "performance of their duties".
No, they shouldn't get same treatment as public.

That's the most damning thing.
Officer, what's your report on the incident?
--Uh, I plead the fifth.
So what happened at the scene
-- The fifth
Why did you stop the man
-- the FIF...

So they lose their rights when they become police officers?

Yea if I was looking at life in prison I wouldnt do a report either.

I just saw that cops need to be held more accountable. The other day a cop comes in here and gives this woe is my friend story, about a fellow cop who killed himself and his family in a murder suicide. Blamed it on the stress of the job. NO, that is a mental issue. Maybe if we better screened the police and were tougher on them, mental cases like that wouldn't be given a badge and a gun. We have to realize that the police are not always right. That is what I take from these threads. It is like some one here only defend the police, no matter what. 95% of all the police are great cops. I know this, but that 95% covers for the 5% all the time. We get on the black youth for the "stop snitching" movement but the thin blue line is the same thing.
Guy in Mandeville almost lost everything last year because a cop and a public servant lied just to get him charges, that stuff happens more than we like to admit, yet it isn't always on camera.
Look at the story in the OP, had the new info not come out, we would have went on blaming the dad for all that happened.
It's not about being anti-cop or wanting anarchy, it's about accountability. If we are going to give select people power above us and the right to get around the law we must follow, then we need to damn well make sure these people are deserving of that right.
Great post. Only mild correction is your Mandeville thing happened in Bogalusa/WP...

That was truly fricked up and I hope they burn.

Sure it is. Every murderer ever agrees with you.
I am sure you realize their not cooperating will increase pressure on the powers that be to throw the book at these marshals right? There will be a lot less sympathy to cops overall after every cop hater can point to this incident and say look at the child killers hiding behind the badge. It makes all cops look bad.
Still, what you're saying does make good legal advice for them.

The thin Blue line everyone, this generation's "stop snitching" movement.

If you are a police officer who does his duties you should never be looking at life in prison.

I really dont see how they can be accused of this. If anything the "badge' is the one coming after these guys to send them to prison.

Had this been me, Joe Q. Napoleon. Who randomly fired a gun into a truck and shot it's occupants and killed a kid. Would I be free or in jail right now?

Your anti police attitude has your view on this tainted. There is no thin blue line protection here. On the surface this is commissioned officers that fricked up and arent cooperating with a legit investigation. nobody is covering or protecting these guys except themselves.

So you don't think they will say their actions were justified under the performance of their duties? That their badge justified their actions? How is that not hiding behind the badge again? You know- the same one every cop wears on duty?
How else do you explain killing a six year on duty if it wasn't in line with their job?

If I was a police officer and shot at a bad guy in a moment where I felt my life was in danger I damn sure would be scared of going to prison. My thoughts and feeling at the time cant be shown or proved to a jury.

Depends. Is Joe P Napoleon supposed to carrying a gun and enforcing laws?

Where is the "if you didn't do anything wrong, you should cooperate" crowd?

Who is they? The ones involved? Certainly they will. The ones investigating? They will take the evidence and information they have and make a decision based on facts according to the law

It's Louisiana I can carry a gun on me at all times if I choose to do so.
Again, had I fired without reason into a vehicle would I be in jail right now?
