I remember growing up that everyone used to say it was mafia related, but I can't remember what the evidence (if there was any) to back that claim was.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was an inside job. There's so much good ol boy politicking on the Northshore. Walter Reed was running a corrupt DA office for 30 years and just got busted.

A member of my family was a friend and called as a witness. In their estimation it was the man she had reported seeing around her home a few days earlier, but that testimony was disallowed.

ADA has got to be the most shite, thankless job there is. Make enemies literally every day who would probably kill you(criminals), not to mention the police , judges, etc...who should theoretically be on your side. All while only getting paid enough to make the minimum payments on your 200k student loans. And since you represent the state and not an actual human being, you probably never get so much as a thank you.

While true on its face. 90% of ADA's get four or five years of trial experience and them go to the Dark Side as criminal defense attorney's where they make pretty damn good cash. The elite are the ones that really kill it and make big bucks plus become pretty influential.

I figured most were just paying their dues for the bigger pay days as defense attorneys. I didn't realize it was that high, though. Granted most of my knowledge comes from Law and Order and Ben Stone did that shite as a calling. He was there to protect us.

My dad was a prosecutor for 25 years. He put several people away for a long time, and many, many people away for shorter periods. AFAIK he never had so much as a threat. He treated everybody the same and never made it personal. It was his job, not a vendetta. You may be the worst scumbag on earth, but he dealt with you as a human being.

I've noticed a big uptick in new developments lately, especially in new places that have always been just trees. I never gave the "turning into Metairie" statements too seriously but the more sections of trees that get whacked down for another strip mall or office complex (when there seems to be plenty of vacant buildings) and it's looking more and more like that.
