So Manhattan, one of the most progressive areas in the county, wants to make a barrier to entry that disproportionately affects poor people? I’m shocked

What’s wrong with that? We love those types of taxes I thought.

No one is driving into lower Manhattan just for the fun of it. There is no point.

What's fricked up is Jersey residents aren't paying in a lot of cases. I'd be pissed about that. frick them.

Companies located in Manhattan will pay the bulk of this. I'm up there a handful of times a year and this is just getting expensed as part of the cab/Uber from LaGuardia into the city.

None that are driving and parking in lower Manhattan.every day.

This is just a tax on those already driving downtown to fund infrastructure and public transit. Very very few are altering their driving lives over $2K a year in parking increases in lower Manhattan.

Especially when crossing through rhe borough doesn't bring the charge.

Cab prices are increasing minimally

Again, disproportionately affecting poor people. Poor people will be less apt to drive in where the wealthy dgaf.

There are poor people driving to Manhattan. Disputing that is retarded. Trying to quantify the exact number is retarded as well.

Hate to tell you, they have done this. Part of the report on enacting the fee.

Going to ruin this for you, it doesn't really change anything for poor people.

Population in New York has been crashing the past 5 years, crime way up, cost of living highest it's ever been.

Definitely the right time to add new taxes.

Anybody with the ability to leave will do so.

There are thousands upon thousands of places better to live than New York City by every objective measure.

Cities refusing to update infrastructure and transportation, and then taxing people is getting insane. My favorite is Charlotte literally cut out a lane, turned another lane into a toll lane, and then sold the rights to the toll lane. Most politicians are awful people and should be thrown and jail and beat daily with a frozen rope.

Per NBC4, "Passengers in taxis and for-hire vehicles will have a per-trip surcharge added to their fares for rides to, from, within or through what is known as the Congestion Relief Zone. That charge is 75 cents for people taking taxis, green cabs and black cars, and $1.50 for Uber or Lyft passengers."

Well you’re wrong, again.

they have done this

They haven’t quantified the exact number. They wouldn’t even try. And even if they did, they damn sure wouldn’t tell you that it’s disproportionately bad for the poor.

I’m sorry but I refuse to discuss New York with the one person who said it’s cleaner than any European city.

I'm sure your made up data that you won't backup paints a totally different picture.

Everyone knows lower Manhattan is filled with poors paying $40 in existing tolls and $50 in existing parking to panhandle for a quarter at a time.

So you have to pay for using a basic street that you already pay taxes to take care of???
I completely understand toll bridges and interstate branches buscaus they are funded by different entities the the state but basic street level driving on a public right of way dosent seem legal.

To be clear, you don't play your registration or gasoline taxes.
