Dems are the party of Bernie and AOC now. Trump has caused them to lose their minds for 4 years and he's essentially a moderate, 90s Democrat.
They have definitely won or are winning the culture war though. I don't think I'll ever see another Republican president in my lifetime after Trump, and I'm not a huge fan of his.

If you're basing your experience with Democrats solely on your Twitter feed then perhaps you're the one that's naive. For starters, there's a much higher proportion of radicals and idiots on Twitter.
Then there's the whole 'curated feed' issue where you're going to primarily see all of the eye-catching idiocy and negativity over rationality.
The fact that you can't think of a Democrat your normal, next-door neighbor who just has different views on some things is one of the biggest issues in our country today, and that door swings both ways. We've let the politicians, media, and social media convince us that the other side is evil. Even most Berners just want better for our country, their view of how to do it is different than yours.

In the quote above, "they" was pointing to reasonable Americans that are Democrat, not all Democrats. In our 24/7 news, social media addiction era, negativity and outrage is what gets noticed, not nuanced discussion of issues at hand.
