Bourbon isn’t exactly a normal street. Disobeying orders to stop driving in either direction could be catostrophic

Yeah I get that. I wonder how fast it all went down.

Yeah, I'm trying to imagine the scenario developing where shooting comes into play.

If you are familiar with Bourbon, What’s so confusing about it?

Guy in vehicle refuses to stop and is heading towards a sea of people, intentionally trying to hit people or not, it’s a problem

I’m making an assumption, but if the guy has to be shot I would imagine fairly quickly

It's not confusing, I just wonder how it went down, especially since the officer said he thought he was going to get hit.

He stood in front of the car pointing a gun telling him stop? Who knows but I’m sure we will get a better run down at some point

The guy is still alive. I thought protocol for police was one shot one kill

Dale and Anne Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, said they were checking their reservations at a restaurant near Bourbon and Bienville streets when the shooting occurred.
Dale Smith said the state police had just cleared a small bucket-drumming group from the curb when he saw troopers’ attention turn to a car “creeping down” Bourbon Street.
He said the car was moving slowly down the street when two troopers began following the car on foot.
Dale Smith said he has hearing issues but that Anne Smith’s hearing is “perfect” and she heard no verbal commands from the officers to the motorist before the gunfire.
She heard one shot. Troopers were running alongside the car when the gunfire sounded, she said.
“This car was moving very, very slowly,” Dale Smith said. “It seemed remarkable to me that an officer would open fire on a vehicle that was going that slow down Bourbon Street” without first giving any commands.
Dale Smith said he then looked toward the car to see that the driver had been shot. He said he then saw someone drop a towel from a balcony, likely to help staunch the victim’s bleeding.

Eyewitness reports are always suspect, but that's interesting.

Article with much more information

Maybe trooper is at his window, guy continues to creep down Bourbon, trooper thinks he'll run over his foot, pulls gun and shoots him in the abdomen through the window?

I'm sure there is video one way or the other.

You said he refused to stop and tried to hit a cop. Just trying to understand how you know, which I assume is video.

So, post it, Hoss
