What these kids need is a lock in at the local rec center.

“Why do so many Louisiana HS kids leave the state for college??”

Not gonna lie, I’d feel a lot better sending my kid to Oxford, Auburn, Fayetteville or Tuscaloosa these days. BR has always had crime but crime around LSU becoming too common. Put the bias aside. This has nothing to do with my love of the university & teams.

Right by Walkons & Sonic. Probably 3 blocks from campus. Been there many times.

They’re trying to grow the off campus housing options towards downtown along Nicholson. Gotta really beef up police and safety and find a way to separate the ghetto from LSU related things. Very tough to do at this point.

Hate to say it but Tigerland needs to go. All those bars need to be moved to south or north gate areas. Add a big barrier right where BWW is to ensure safety.

I wouldn’t use that tactic exactly, but that’s basically the problem. Too many uncontributing people live around LSU. They need to be bought up, flipped and rented out to college students again.

I wish a developer would buy all of those apartments and bulldoze them. I wonder if Tiger Plaza has stayed decent? It was OK when I lived in Tigerland 20 years ago.

I know it isn't on campus, but that is an area right off campus where tons of LSU students frequent/live. LSUPD needs to coordinate with BRPD and patrol that area more frequently.

No jokes about it. This isnt on LSU, but they better do something about it. This is not what it should be.

The overdevelopment of Multi-Family properties is the cause. Too much supply has forced the older units rents down and they are now occupied by non-students.

Tiger Plaza did some renovations recently and are solid housings. Nothing super fancy, but it’s nice. The problem is the surrounding area. Filled with drug dealers and predators.

You can’t walk near there without some beggar pleading for money.

I agree, but I don't think there's much they can do about it aside from maybe requesting BR police have more officers patrolling around the outside of the university.

Honestly, LSU is about to have a huge mess on their hands. LSU students are in legit ghettos with North Campus and Tigerland
