Surely that arse has been posted on an FB page as a meme, yes? Does she realize she's TD famous?

The only way I can see he means is property taxes go up. But they’re really only a small percentage of annual costs anyway. And only go up very marginally each year.
Small percentage to you
Rich white people are about to riot over their assessments recently to begin with. So don’t give me that shite

I'm a renter so gentrification hurts me too. Probably even more so. My rent would go up at a far higher percentage than property taxes would.

I imagine the VAST majority of the generational locals have no issues with property tax hikes.
Rising rents can certainly hurt a local area, as will outsiders buying up properties for the purpose of setting up a STR.
Ol byron, like most of his neighbors complaining about these yankees, have had their assessments frozen for probably more than a decade.

How do you get your assessment frozen?

The assessors office had a record number of appeals this past year from what I understand, because they came in so high

Lester Earl
Because quickly looking, most assessed values in the 7th ward range from 60k-80k, so seems like ol Lester is full of fricking shite about them getting hammered by the increase in assessed value

Rent is an issue too for sure. The old heads in my neighborhood all own, and it’s the transplants that are renting mostly. The older ones who aren’t able to work have issues even with the small increases.
Of course they just built a $550,000 house down the block next to an abandoned $103k home. Lol

Most of the city was reassessed for 2019
Only the newer homes (or repaired), get above 125k in assessed value

But those small increases have virtually nothing to do with rising property values.
If they are old and/or unable to work, their assessment can be frozen.
