There was no prior or post contact other than what we've seen.

I told the dude I was going to leave him alone after thanking him for humoring us. I have no reason to believe that op lied about this though.
If you read this and want to answer some questions though, you have my number!
My theory about the timeline is that he knew it was a bad look that his wife got the text after dark so he fibbed about the timeline out of insecurity.
