BATON ROUGE – A Texas man was found shot to death Wednesday morning, police revealed in a news release.

According to BRPD, Brian Allen Cook was found in an abandoned house at 2526 Dayton Street around 11:50. Dayton Street is in north Baton Rouge sandwiched between the refinery and Plank Road.

Friends and family say Cook works for Siemens Energy and traveled to Baton Rouge from his hometown of Kyle, Texas on Nov. 24 for a work project. Cook was free to return home after the project was completed on Nov. 29, but had not been seen or heard from since then.

Investigators say there are no known suspects or motives at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call (225) 389-4869.

That sounds fishy to me too. Why would he be in that neighborhood away from a major road and out of his vehicle?

I can’t think of any other plausible reason.

Maybe he didn’t know it was a bad neighbourhood and he didn’t get out of his car - voluntarily

Unless he just got lost and carjacked/robbed. Still pretty hard to come up with the abandoned house scenario though.

It's pretty obvious to even the most naive person that they are in a bad area when leaving Exxon.

Even in the hood, they aren’t going to drag a dude out of his car and force him into an abandoned house to shoot him. They’d just shoot him in his car & keep pushing.

It's a very rough looking area. It would be pretty unmistakable that he was in the hood.

Shot somewhere else, dumped at the abandoned house?

Unfortunately I don't have a high degree of confidence in this getting solved. The residents in that neighborhood won't say shite to the police unlike the body dump they had off of Millerville last night.

He was more than likely on a project at Exxon, which explains why he was in that area.

That makes sense that he was in that area but he was back up in a neighborhood off of Dayton Street. That was a bad ghetto 30 years ago.

Still sad to see a seemingly productive member of society lose his life. It would be tragic if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I've worked in that area years ago. The thugs around there will kill you for $20

Could've been forced at gunpoint to go there.

Definitely possible. Just seems like an odd scenario for a robbery. If he took a wrong turn in that neighborhood no telling.
