Both of my dads parents passed away in 98 and 2000. They both wanted their bodies to be donated to medical research at a certain facility. Around 2006 my dad got a letter in the mail saying the military used their bodies to test weapons on. My dad was crushed. Their was a huge class action lawsuit. Even though people got money, it still never makes up for what was done.

This is one hell of an explosé on the cadaver donation industry.

Sounds kind of awesome actually. She was going to be cremated anyway.

ETA: note to Large Farva... castorinho has somewhat politely pointed out to me (on p. 2) that I was too harsh in my original response. By directly referencing your dad in my original post, I was being insensitive and assuming.
I have edited the post below, because I have incomplete information. Any reference specifically to your father was out of line. I'm sure he was a great dad, and I sure do miss my dad. Upon reflection, I was too harsh, and I apologize.

In my humble opinion, with incomplete information presented here, I feel that the litigants of this case were selfish and perhaps unappreciative of the sacrifices made by American forces in combat zones.
U.S. Military use of bodies to test weapons, at a minimum, benefits our fighting men and women; and means, almost certainly, that our soldiers see less risk, less limb-loss and less death. And our enemies become less lethal to our soldiers, more rapidly.
Also, the data collected could potentially have medical benefits, particularly in a combat medical research situation, but I do not know the details.
The litigants in that case, again based on incomplete information, sound a bit like those Google pussies who walked out on their jobs because Google was working a Pentagon defense project. Those same Deranged Left Google pussies had NO problem with helping the Chinese Government further push their modern police state data collecting and censorship goals.

I’m guessing there was no actual medical use is what you mean? If so, I’d think someone crazies would have no issues volunteering for it I can’t believe they would assume that was okay.

They were already dead.

I'm pretty much for throwing my dead body on the side of the road and whatever happens...happens. I no longer have use for it anyways. Plus, spending money on a funeral is a waste. Go enjoy a vacation or something.

When you donate something to someone you no longer dictate the disposition of that property.
People wanted the cheapest way out and that is exactly what they received.

Sounds like a Coen Bros movie plot line

The donated bodies were all sold to the military for $5,893 each.
So a donation is worth almost $6000??? Is this a tax write off?
