They had a pizza place that 12 yr old me in choke hold. Never see slices so big.

We were blown away with the food court when I was 12.

Forget the food court. Remembering Baton Rouge in 1997 compared to today. Kinda different.

Does anyone remember when Godchaux's had a restaurant on the second floor?

Yep. IIRC, the Godchaux's downtown had a cookie/ice cream parlor in it.

I thought it was a Corn Dog 7, not a funny hat corn dog place?

And Sbarro Pizza?

Le Madeline’s.

I worked there 2002-2003. One of the most fun jobs I ever had fresh out of HS. Great bosses and coworkers.

We would trade food for LSU merch at the LSU shop next door. Tiger Mania I believe.

I remember skipping school, getting stoned, and getting lost there on its opening day.

I couldn't think of the name. That was it.

To this day I still love cheap, fast Chinese food more than nice sit down Chinese restaurants.

Who was the middle eastern dude with the seafood joint in the corner who also did the businessmen’s lunch at the Gold Club on Friday afternoons?

I love La Madeline. I don’t understand why they recently removed the kiwi from their mini fruit tart. Weird.

I remember the Super Walmart being open on Thibodaux in 99.

Galliano (South Lafourche) got their Walmart Supercenter first. I think it was 1995 or 1996 when it opened.

I remember dollar fresh and hot French bread and fresh donuts. The French bread and donuts were about as good as Dufrene’s. I think they even hired an old former baker that worked at Dufrene’s before they shut down. There was even a McDonalds in the back of the store. The store was always packed, now it is not as packed. I remember when the store was level with the parking lot. The parking lot sunk into the ground by 2-3 feet and there is an incline where you walk up to the store. It was built so fast that there were issues with settling under the store and some of the plumbing had to be redone. And I long for the day when it was open for 24 hours so you could stroll in at midnight for a something you needed.

Walmart actually started renovating the place this week.
