I agree. I have a 5 year old son and have been teaching him we let women go first. I will also get up for a woman on a bus. Perhaps it’s different in the South but I always seemed to be thanked and never get the stink eye that people are concerned about.

We’re people. Opening a door doesn’t have to be a masculine trait. That’s antiquated bs. If a female opened a door for all the males on this board, how many of you close minded good ole boys would take offense or feel inadequate?

Perhaps, but I believe good manners never go out of style.

But manners are subjective. To each his own I suppose.

So what is exactly wrong with raising someone to be polite? I'm confused.

Holding a door open for any gender is just being polite to the person behind you. I don't get how someone gets offended by a polite gesture...unless that person is myopic and just assumes that the gesture of opening a door is only meant to establish some kind of dominance. If you feel that way when someone does something nice for you (only for the sake of being polite) then sorry for your frownie face.

I tried C once.

Fair warning, women are funny about strangers fricking them in the arse as they try to walk through a doorway.
