I'm outside and heard a jet. Looked up and it's clear to see its a commercial airliner 30,000 ft. in the air with my own eyes.

But your statement is asinine when you consider that not only do some military planes resemble airliners, some military planes literally are airliner frames with internal modifications.
So what *waves hand mysteriously* technology makes it impossible to buy that an airliner can never be mistaken for a military craft period?
Hell, how sophisticated are the field radars of a mobile SAM anyway? On a RUSSIAN field unit no less

The US passenger plane shot down by Russia in the 80's was followed by a Russian fighter plane for 30 minutes and word came from Moscow to shoot it down. It was no accident!
To be fair the passenger plane pilot was off course and had strayed into Russian airspace, but there was no need to shoot it down.

Flew over this general area last August and over Pakistan and Afghanistan and knew none had the weapon capabilities to do anything, but thought about it. Scary if those types of groups get more of this type of weapon system.
