Major Waitr changes may have affects to area restaurants

This is a major kick in the nuts for small businesses.

Just days after laying off an undisclosed number of employees, Waitr announced a new "performance-based rate structure" for its partner restaurants that could mean slimmer profit margins — or even losses — for those that agree to the new terms.
quote:
Restaurants with monthly food sales from the Waitr platform that exceed $20,000 will be charged a 15% commission from Waitr for every transaction, according to the new Master Services Agreement sent to restaurants. The commission increases in brackets, reaching a cap at 25% for restaurants with monthly food sales at or below $1,000, the agreement says.
quote:
The new terms prohibit restaurants from charging a higher price for food ordered through Waitr than regular, in-restaurant transactions and passes along the fees charged by credit card companies to the restaurants. It also prohibits restaurants from using photos taken by Waitr for any purpose. Before, restaurant owners were free to pass on some of the expense to customers by increasing their menu prices on the Waitr platform. Restaurants didn't have to pay the credit card fees, and they were also free to use Waitr's images of their food for their own promotional purposes. "That's brand-new," Baloch said. "They took the picture, but I paid them $1,400 to come in and do it. They're making you pay for photos they own the rights to. This is so bad that people are at a point where they want to get an attorney."

I have a vehicle, and I drive. Don’t need Waitr. I’m seriously not that lazy.

I've never understood how Waitr is so popular. Unless it's a large group order you are paying a massive premium from a % standpoint.

Anyone using this is an idiot many restaurants utilize more than 1 service I don’t see them surviving

WAITR sucks, but I paid $2 to get something from Grubhub the other day.

Lots of drunk and lazy people use it. Avoiding DUI and killing someone/yourself is smart, but I bet it's a lot of lazy people.

The sales Waitr has generated for restaurants is significant. They were charging only 15% while Grub Hub "corporate rates" was 24% and Ubereats was 28%

I thought most were like $5 fee plus tip? To me that doesn't make sense unless I have a huge order. I see them picking up small orders from Chick-fil-A and stuff like that though.
My wife works with a girl that uses it for lunch and will turn a $12 lunch into $20 so she doesn't have to drive a mile down the road.

Only time I used it was when a bunch of us in the ER all ordered while working late one night but that was a lot of people and it was a very busy night. If its just me or just a few of us, I would go pick it up.
Only other use I could see for it is if someone was intoxicated and couldn't drive to get food.
Don't really use it, I just pick it up myself.

We’ve done that at work before. But I have to walk two blocks to a parking deck, get my vehicle out, drive, find street parking, and then do it all in reverse. Sometimes a few bucks is worth the convenience. Especially when your two block walk is in 90+ temps and high humidity and you’re wearing pants or a suit.

We order food in for lunch meetings occasionally but most places will deliver a couple hundred dollar order. Otherwise we'll send someone to go get it.

UberEats about to frick their world up.
This is the only time we use it. There’s a woman in our office that uses it damn near every day for McDonalds and other fast foods that you don’t even need to get out your car for. Never understood this.

Not at the percentage they are charging. Waitr owned the market due to their low percentage. I think my store may be grandfathered as we are looking into it. I spend a few thousand more in paper products for to go orders each month now. This is a big deal for a lot of smaller restaurants.

I may be the exception but I use it a lot during the week. I own my own business and regularly pull 12 or 13 hour days and there isn’t take out between my office and home. I will order it when leaving the office and it gets there a few minutes after I get home and clean up. Worth it to me.
That being said, I know a girl that will order coffee from the site and pay a $5 delivery fee. frick that.

I dont know how Waitr drivers make enough money. $5-ish for a delivery that takes up 30 minutes of your time?

They are paid hourly plus tips

Waitr. When getting in your car and going to the drive thru is too much damn work.

Postmates has been my go-to for a while. Pay a small monthly fee for unlimited deliveries.

Same girl probably complains about not being able to afford a house.
