Why isn't any of this making national news?! At lunch today there was nothing on Yahoo, AOL and MSN. And I saw pictures of devastating floods and Good Samaritans helping others. This should be on page one of all news outlets.

Looks like things have slowly shifted east as far as the "training" is concerned. Hopefully that trend continues for NOLA. This is run out to 9AM EST Friday morning.

that's interesting.

Looks like the weather will be coming more South to North that it did today

Yeah, it will. Today was mostly the result of the front that moved across the region. Tomorrow and through the weekend will be reminiscent of a tropical system that just spins over southern/eastern Texas.

That area could have some issues tonight. That line of storms is nearly stalled and training off the Gulf.

The radar in Lake Charles that reaches out into the gulf is just now showing stuff coming in.

I don't think it's widespread, just localized. If they didn't have water in their house yet it's pretty close

Flood insurance might have been handy. Almost anywhere can flood. If you are near a water source you can flood.

For the record, they're still predicting an additional 9.75" for the New Orleans area on top of what has been received today.

Estimated accumulated rainfall in the last 24-hours:

Not sure, but you can get 15-hour forecasts here, rainfall forecasts here, and perhaps more importantly, river gauge forecasts here.

You obviously haven't seen five minutes of any national news today.

What pisses me off is the people equating this to Katrina and New Orleans. I've read numerous comments asking why built in areas below sea level, get ready for looting, chocolate city, etc.

I just remember when Atlanta had that flood and almost no place there is in a flood zone. It is really cheap when you aren't. Here in New Orleans, it is basically a requirement, unless you have no mortgage. And it certainly isn't cheap here.
