I’ve been out of town but my wife said she got 8 inches in St George last night.
Well, it certainly wasn’t from me

Deer hunting will be epic and damn cold in SW Alabama. Way better then swatting skeeters and sweating like a Hebrew slave.

What's the difference between Kuchera and 10:1 total snowfall totals?
The GFS I'm looking at has me (North of Austin) getting about 10" - using Kuchera. 10:1 has me at 8".

I think Kuchera relies heavily on temperature to adjust the snowfall ratio.
10:1 is the standard, but if it’s close to freezing, then Kuchera will estimate a wet snow and lower the 10:1 ratio.

Kuchera takes into account atmospheric conditions such as a warm nose and is generally viewed as more reliable. If a model forecasts more snow on the kuchera ratio it’s likely going to be a lighter snow with a snow water equivalent greater than your standard 10:1 ratio

Weather fascinates me, but a lot of time I'm left reading something and coming out of the other end still not having a clue what it means.

Most of the "rules" don't apply to snow in the southeast, anyway.

Austin getting 8-10” with DFW getting nothing would be wild.
