I've seen some local mentions that we can be dealing with fricking ice.

It is possible. Depends on where the low tracks, and how far south/north the associated front forms. With the GFS the worst of the ice is mostly over TN, not much your way. Then, there is the timing and how fast it moves through with the temp drop. Both GFS and Euro have freezing rain with that system, just depends on how things shake out.

Thanks. Don't wish it upon anyone, but hoping it tracks further south. Last thing we need is ice and then turn around and get snow dumped on it less than a week later with extreme cold temps.

I think I've been legitimately shell shocked most of my life by 2009. I get twitchy when we start talking ice.

I dont mind a little sleet-sleet or snow. Freezing rain can get fricked.

Exponentially different with a 20-30 MPH wind

Coldest I’ve experienced was -2 with a -12 wind chill in Chicago right by the lake. The sun was out so with some layers it didn’t feel too bad. My coworker from buffalo swears he’d take a 20 degree day up there over 50 in Louisiana.

Never been in Chicago in bad weather, but Manhattan can be brutal. Wintery mix with a decent wind, thermometer was 8 degrees above, but wind chill must have been in the negatives. At night, with the wind and precipitation, that is the worst I've ever dealt with during a single event.

I know a guy from Wisconsin and he says 40 in Alabama is worse than 0 in Wisconsin.

35-50 in the South will have a good bit of humidity on your skin. His words were "chilled to the bone."

Hope for y'all that doesn't come to fruition. That's some nasty business right there.
