and to support your complaint see the following:
The Original Cuban Sandwich
No mayo. No lettuce or tomato. No turkey. A true Tampa Cuban is layered from bottom to top: ham, roast pork, salami, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. The better the quality of the ingredients, the better the sandwich. Good bread is essential, and La Segunda Central Bakery in Ybor City has supplied the Columbia for much of its history. The sandwich should not be overstuffed with ham, but carefully proportioned.

Had a place in Mid-City back off the beaten path on Dhemecourt St. called "Garce's" and they had great Cubano' sandwiches.
They shut down that place and moved out to Williams Blvd. and the wife and I would go there when she had a dental appointment that was in that area.
Unfortunately, they shut down too and it looks like they've not opened another place.

not sure if it is still there, but in Lantana, FL - there was a place called the Havana Hideaway (was on triple D) - best damn Cuban I have ever eaten.
