You were there to vent to and give sympathy. Not saying that is not lying to her. That comment just erased anything nice you said before it and was mean spirited.
If she kept hounding you to say he was wrong? Fine. Choose your side (because at that point a side is chosen). If she wasn’t trying to make you say he was wrong? You knew exactly what you were doing.

The guys like this are the same ones who want to incessantly whine and complain to their partner about something stupid and expect nothing but sympathy and “you’re right. You’re always right” in return, but can’t be bothered to listen to something important and upsetting and be there for their partner.

I never complain and never ask for anything. I’m as low-maintenance as they come. I provide and give and give and give of myself to literally everyone, especially her and our kids, and I don’t expect or ask for anything in return. Ever. Never ever ever.
I listened and was compassionate. Then I told her she was wrong. Not to be an arse, but to keep her from making an arse of herself to her boss. Because that is what she was gonna do. Gotta be reasonable. Always.
