I wish we could still do Viking funerals.

Just build a pyre.

I think one of those old west pine boxes they show in movies would be pretty cool.

Because Vikings typically buried their dead.

Yes i’m Aware the flaming longboat and the funeral pyre are largely fantasy...but damn does it look cool

But then you’d be all “frick...my boat.”

It had to be a huge undertaking to build those boats back in that time. If they were willing to sacrifice one for a funeral I would expect it to be one that was just about spent.

Well ole buddy, we have a pre-arranged deal with part of your estate, and I'm handy enough with the carpentry stuff so you may just get what you want. I might need to get some dimensions like your height width of the shoulders and stuff. Would it bother you if I made it ahead of time and you could use it as a coffee table?

Outstanding idea. I’m 6’1 but don’t know about shoulder width. Will have to get back with you later on that.

Is it legal to build your own coffin?

I’ll go to Home Depot tonight and make the old man a pine box

Have you considered willing your body to a medical school?

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

'Light my Fire'.

No idea on legality of coffin. I would think so, though.

if you're familiar with the author Edward Abbey, he does in 1989 look it up and see what he did for his funeral.

I doubt the funeral home will accept it, even though they’re just going to burn it up
