Johnny couldn't shoot and he played out of control. I used to love LSU basketball, but Jones has ruined it for now. So glad that him and the miserable Les Miles will no longer be coaches at LSU.

He was fast, but always out of control fast. He would haul arse and penetrate, then have no idea what to do next. Martin and Taylor were so smooth. And also, could knock down a jump shot when necessary, to keep everyone honest on D. JJ couldn't shoot. Period.

I don't think it's going to matter much

I remember DT could drain that top of the key jumper regularly and could penetrate and float a shot over Mel Turpin, Sam Bowie, Cedric Henderson, etc. .. JJ would throw up line drive bricks and couldn't finish to save his life. Sadly, he had some good players on that team with him too.

Haha, twinsies!!
You're so right. When I went to LSU, we had to camp out to get the front row seats when Kentucky was coming to town. The PMAC (Assembly Center at the time) would be rocking. Fricking Mike the Tiger getting lowered down from the roof on a rope before the Kentucky game was GOAT.
Honestly, the allure of LSU basketball departed with Dale. Love him or hate him, the dude made basketball relevant when he coached. Always. Now, it's a joke. How JJ got the HC job is beyond my understanding. It will be 5 years undoing what's been done, if we hire a home run hire.

I still do, I don't stop watching them just because they are losing... Although this year has been rough. I haven't watched too many complete games. I like college basketball in general, but my school's basketball program can't even get into the NCAA tournament with a first overall pick on the team...

There were so many great players back in the late 70's and 80's. I used to laugh at Howard Carter. Dude was as dumb as a box of rocks, and smoked weed like a maniac. He played Center in HS, then comes to LSU as shooting guard. He would camp at the baseline, nearly out of bounds. He threw up rainbows all day, nothing but net. And no credit for 3 pointers either.

dale was awesome...sadly he got lazy and thought he had lsu basketball on cruise control with his name recognition. he was wrong and his last few years were terrible.

This is just a FYI, but do yall realize LSU currently has 9 players on NBA rosters. More than schools like Michigan st, Ohio St, Texas, etc.

It is hard to believe that in 1987, Oliver Brown, Bernard Woodside, Nikita Wilson, Anthony Wilson, and Darryl Joe almost reached the Final Four in the Superdome .. if only Fess Irvin could shoot free throws ..
