It’s not. 
I’m a peon but I am required to sign lots of letters. I now have the letter in template form with my signature “pic” where I would normally sign.

Ohhhh I have had that before. I didn't know it had a name lol. I guess I just called it an electronic signature.

I always use the font Mistral as my signature. Never had a problem yet, but when it's official documents should it be an image of your signature? I've "signed" quite a few documents just changing the font, so I hope not.

No, this is my actual signature scanned, cut and then pasted to the template.
