Company recruiter sent me a resume of a guy to interview for an open regional sales position I'm hiring for. He did phone interview with him and so did I. Phone talk went well. So I setup a lunch interview to meet him in person.

We met today for lunch and he ordered appetizers, didn't eat them (not one bite) and took them home. He also took half his sandwich home.

I'm I crazy for thinking that is odd?

That's pretty odd to me. I wouldn't even take leftovers from a job interview.

You'd probably be missing a roll of toilet paper each day if you hired him.

I would have said he saw your dirty arse finger nails in the appetizer but then he took them home so I have no idea.

Definite hire for me though.

he was likely hopped up on stims and not super hungry during your lunch date

He ordered two appetizers before the meal, didn’t touch them, and asked for a to go bag? That’s insane if you’re sitting there with friends. At a job interview? Psychotic.

This. It’s drugs. Could be opiate which decrease appetite also. Stay away from this guy.

My apologies. I really didn’t think it would be that big of a deal.

Sounds to me like a guy who is comfortable with a company credit card. Must have plenty of experience. I’d hire him.

Not really, that’s weird. As a side note, I hate interviews at restaurants. It’s so awkward trying to find the balance between talking and.. well.. eating. I once had a breakfast interview, which was even worse.

An insurance company flew me up to Chicago years ago for a day-long interview and took me to lunch with the big wigs of the company. I was so nervous and mentally exhausted that I barely ate at all.

I got the job, though.

so the interviews went well...
he's broke...nervous...needing a job...starving...
he takes the food home to probably feed someone at home and you're not going to give him a chance?...

This was my first thought. Desperate people do desperate things. If dude has been out of work for a while, that food may have been really important to him.
