Yep. This city is about to be on a stand still with hotels and restaurants closed for business.

If you are willing to live and work in the shithole that is Kenner and the West Bank, you deserve to be Rex.

Orleans parish has many problems, but illegal residents are not one. Despite the rhetoric, this operation will be targeted at very Republican Jefferson parish which has many illegal residents.

The greater New Orleans metro area will be left smaller, sadder and dumber after ICE terrorizes the republican suburbs of New Orleans.

So enforcing laws = attacking the city?

so, we should just accept it?

Maybe we should be figuring out how we got here and how to fix the problem.

"that's just the way it is" is the attitude that has this state on the bottom of every list.

1986 amnesty, along with the decades long (D) push to do it again.

Sounds like someone hasn’t been to New Orleans since the 1980’s or 90’s.

One of the ways we got her locally is a depressed job market and aging demographics that hallowed out the metro area population, and immigrant labor moved in to rebuild the area after Katrina, and Gustav, and Ike, and Ida.

Just tell the truth. This isn’t going to touch the root cause of crime in Orleans parish or punish the sanctuary city of Orleans, Parish.

This is going to depopulate Jefferson parish or Hispanic residents and make it a smaller and poorer parish.

Kenner without Hispanics will look like Jazzland.

What “attacks”?

Seems like he is priming himself for a gov bid and trying to appeal to the left a bit.

No problem here with deporting those that are in this country illegally. However, I do agree that it is quite possible that tourism might be temporarily affected….who wants to go to a location that has potential for civil unrest?

Also, this board’s fixation on fat people is borderline disturbing.

Maybe if they don’t want to hurt tourism, they could clean up the freaking state!

Had a friend from work visit NO and they came back disgusted by how dirty everything was and said they’d never go back. All I could say is welcome to pretty much anywhere in LA. It’s one of the main reasons I moved.

I had pretty much the same experience. I have always enjoyed New Orleans and bragged about it regularly. Had a coworker visit and he was shocked about how filthy it is. I was kind of embarrassed.

I honestly think we just learn to tune it out when we live there, but anytime I return to visit, I realize just how nasty it is.

Same,…and there is honestly no reason for it. There is no reason that downtown Jackson, Mississippi should be much cleaner than the French quarter…but that is the case.
