I truly do believe Landry is dumb enough to believe this posturing will lead to some grand repair of society's moral fabric.

as twisted as it is i truly hope our governor is not that dumb and is trying to do whatever he can to get other dumb people (this is Louisiana) to vote for him, and this whole "10 commandments in publicly funded schools" thing is about as dumb and pointless as you can get

I think it's less about that, more about hoping daddy trump notices him

all seriousness what is the point of putting the 10 commandments in classrooms? what exactly is that going to change whatsoever?
Why would any Christian get pissed because the Word of God is displayed publicly?!

More of this please and thank you.

My favorite part of this clusterfrick is that the Fifth Circuit didn’t even decide in their favor; it basically punted, saying the plaintiffs would need to sue for each poster at issue, not as a general hypothetical (which I think SCOTUS will still slap down, but regardless). So I look forward to the state continuing to pay hundreds of thousands in legal fees for this bullshite.

It's not a fallacy at all. If the reasoning for putting up the 10 commandments is that we're a Christian nation, why shouldn't Christian laws be in effect? Just say you hate God if you don't want sins to be illegal

Christain law #1: the meek will inherit the earth
Christain law #2: its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven

This two often and conveniently get ignored by the Christian bible thumpers

and the whole dont diddle kids one

Because it's doing so with public funds, on public property and in public schools.

We need a plaque next to the 10 commandments that says "God exists but he does not interact with humanity"

I predict our current crop of LSU students will generate a companion list of “Trump’s Ten Commandments“ and Landry’s 10, for display next to the Biblical version.

Yep

quote:

Louisiana State University began as a small all-male military school near Pineville, Louisiana. Originally called the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy (or variations thereof), classes began on January 2, 1860. The first superintendent, William Tecumseh Sherman, and five faculty members, taught the first students. The Seminary offered classes in engineering, chemistry, Latin, Greek, English, and mathematics. Cadets, as the students were called, submitted to military-style discipline and were required to stand inspections, drill, stand guard, and attend classes. They were awakened by a bugler sounding reveille and went to bed at taps.

Genuine question: Semantics aside, do you actually believe that the first class of students at LSU were training to be members of a religious order?

Is this really worth the legal fees that will follow?

Someone is going to sue the state to put up Surat Al-An'am (6:151–153) and Surat Al-Isra' (17:23–39) from the Quran, and I’m not sure what the justification will be to deny it.
