If we don't enforce the safety laws, the machine breaks down. And if the machine breaks down we break down.

I'm the first guy he shut down and NO we are not new to tailgating.
So you broke a rule and are pissed he shut you down?
Get over yourself, you should apologize for not reading the rules and thinking you are above it.

We have had just about everyone you can imagine working for lsu/taf,police and even state officials attending our tailgates over the years.
subtle brag is pointless

LOL. Good one. I do apologize for breaking the rule because that was not not my intention. I was only pointing out that when hundreds of generators around the campus are running with no problems and a safetey guy chooses to shut down one area and allow the others to continue is just not right.

People who follow the rules to a tee are losers

So he didn't shut down the one's following the rules? Shocked.

"I bought a $399 generator and I contribiuted $10 to TAF so LSU oughta KMA."
Maybe the safety guy's timing was crappy, but 95% of the generators have stacks, esp. in close quarters. People that say "I didn't know" must be friggin blind b/c the stacks are everywhere, even on standalone generators.

So this is from LINK and states their policy. Doesn't say anything about portable generators.
quote:
Exhaust Extensions
Policy: All motor homes require exhaust extensions that reach the top of the motor home. For the safety of everyone, motor homes without an extension should not operate a generator. This also applies to generators used by fifth-wheelers.
Reason: Exhaust fumes are dangerous and annoying to other tailgaters.

Think this covers it

Crusty - I understand you are mad, but the rules have been there for as long as I can remember. I have been bringing my RV to campus over 30 years and I always remember having an exhaust pipe hooked up to the generator.
If you had a stand alone generator in one of the TD Villages, I guess you were in a 5th wheeler and not a RV. Personally, I don't think 5th wheelers should be allowed to park in TD Village due to the utilization of a portable generator. I find the portable generators to be noisy as compared to a RV generator hooked up with an exhaust pipe.
Additionally, I think the use of a number of external extension cords like you mentioned is a safety hazard.
If you were parked in TD Village and had no exhaust connected to your generator, then the safety personnel were within their rights to shut it down.

So now you know next time around. C'est La Vie.

That rule is not enforced anywhere else on campus for portables.
It was a dick move on a big game day.
