It’s the best public school in BR. Including magnet.

It's not really a true public school though. Isn't it like 5k/yr?

The price usually scales for different grades though, right? What age are you referring to for that price?

My grandson is related to some people who go there. They are good people. Little on the cocky side. Not sure if that’s a problam for you all or not. Some cocky people are successful. Look at President Lyndon Johnson.

You can define "well rounded" however you want, but academically the lab is not the strongest high school. Maybe not even in top 3. Just don't kid yourself by throwing out "best".

You did say public, my bad. But still, academically they are not on the level of BRHS, maybe not even Lee. Regardless, they are not the "best" public high school.

Y’all sound like Texans with all this “my kids school is better academically...” nonsense.

My kids don't go to those schools, so I get to say whatever.... Lab school is great, Its just not academically where the top magnets are.

Episcopal is worth it. U-High is a bargain.

If she gets in, keep her there until she graduates. I wish Lafayette had a lab school.

Baton Rouge Magnet High School and Lee Magnet High School say hello.

Even if I hadn't gone to BRHS, and my kids didn't/wouldn't go there....your post would make no sense. However I did, so......

The Lab School has very strange admissions. The school was initially created primarily for the children of LSU professors, but I doubt many even bother applying these days.
In the 80s and 90s, they were getting rejected left and right while Episcopal was accepting all of them. I only know of one professor who got his kid in and he basically begged and pleaded since his kid was 2 years old.
On the other hand, if you are in state politics or the athletic department, your kid will get in regardless of academic ability.
It’s a great value for the price, especially as Episcopal has doubled in cost in 17 years, but there is a reason why they don’t measure up head-to-head in academics.
It’s the rare school that would prefer to take three kids who will get into LSU, Ole Miss, and Alabama over Duke, Rice, and Dartmouth.

So you’re saying the admissions process is corrupt?
