This guy gets it. Three quarters of the pie is constitutionally protected. That's where cuts should be made...but they can't, and they won't.

Here is the latest (so I have heard):
1. Sell naming rights to Tiger Stadium;
2. Close most of LSU campus and move 85% to online format;
3. Rent out other buildings to private businesses;
End 70% of sports programs because they lose money. Cut 60% of programs - stick with most popular via online offerings. Embrace football entirely - dorms closest to football will be rented as 'game day' condos.
This is supposed to turn LSU from money drain, to money maker. They want to attract students all over the world, and use the football program as the driver. Enrollment will increase, and faculty will all be part-time, not on-site because it is online.
And you thought lawmakers were dumb!
It will be sold as a new 'technology centric' race neutral university. But really it will be a fancy online university with a huge football program. It is supposed to save $150 million per year, and make $180 million per year, netting over $330 million per year, or more.
"LSU - technology driven for today, tomorrow, and beyond." Not sure, this is the rumor.
What kinda shite are you smoking?

I have advocated on every front possible. You know when someone wants to make a difference vs just a politician.
The La constitution is the longest in the US, and no one is talking about rewriting it.
It is fricked up. JBE is an extension of the system and nothing new is to be expected. Blame the previous administration and carry on with business as usual.

Close every public college that is not Louisiana Tech, LSU, and UNO. Yeah I said it. It is quite apparent that Louisiana cannot afford it.

I only kept UNO because of the NO metro area. If that rail would get built, you can axe UNO too.
Posted on 3/5/16 at 6:30 am to 50_Tiger
We don't need UNO, LSU-E, Northwestern, ULM, anything in Shreveport, Nicholls, UNO or SUNO

Close or merge:
southern
Nichols
Southeastern
Either Ulm or ull
And a slew of others.
I can't thing of schools that should be 100% safe outside of LSU, UNO, LA Tech, and either Ull or Ulm.
We have entirely to many state funded colleges. Cut that shite out.

This is the only logical response this entire thread.

How do you like those insane property taxes?

Great. You should be paying more in tuition or taking out a loan to cover the increase if you can't.

The cost of having summer classes dwarfs the repercussions of what would come from not having summer classes, therefore not fielding a football team in the fall.
From lost revenue to lawsuits. We're talking hundreds of millions of dollars it would cost LSU.

Anyone who believes anything is going to be shut down at LSU, especially football, is as gullible as it gets.
