Etymologically the two words are unrelated.

i agree. but its funny how some words have taken on different meanings all because someone else doesn't like it.

There's always a reason why they're victims despite the fact that people that look like them come to this country and surpass them in the same or first generation. They want to embrace many of the aspects that have hindered them for multiple generations.
