My impression of SAE was always that they aspired to be DKE

I didn't feel like that was the case while I was there (06-10).

They were booted for killing (hazing) that pledge right? I think that was in early 2000's.

Ben Wynn incident in the 90's. I read over the police report once. I don't think the chapter should have gotten the boot.

It sucked but I can certainly understand the situation. He was a 21 year old drinking on his own accord... But he was still a pledge.

IIRC from the report, he got hammered at the bar and went to the house to pass out and ended up dying. Had it not happened at the house it might not have went as far imo. The title of "pledge" also had a major effect which I don't agree with. What does it matter if it was a pledge or not? He was only 20 but wasn't being forced to drink. And it was pitchers of 3 wise men IIRC.

1997

Ben was older and he wasn't the type of dude you had to force to party. He really liked to get really really messed up.

It was tragic, and the greek system as a whole never recovered.

The next year pledges got locked in the fieldhouse and treated to a magic show on bid night until the bars closed.

They've all changed since I've been in school. A lot for the worse. But one thing remains the same. PIKE still sucks.
I was talking with some colleagues who were greek at other colleges and the general consensus was that PIKE sucked. 4 different colleges agreed that pike was the worst. How is pike still around?

Yea I had heard he did like 25 shots of it. All the drinking was at the bar and not at the fraternity house.

Correct. Right or wrong, this changed the culture of the Greek community across the nation. Some changes did need to be made but then you get to have people like AG running shite. Someone give that woman the promotion she is gunning for and get her out of there.

In late August of 1987,in the middle of Rush, somebody came into the Lambda Chi House around 5 am, pushed the couches in the middle of the room, put the fraternity composites on top, poured a can of gasoline on it, and ran like a homicidal, criminally-pychotic little bitch-resulting in the death of millions of semi-innocent cockroaches and my super-awesome record collection and all my other shite-some of it impossibly Frattastik and of great sentimental value.

There were about 25 of us in the house. Some of us barely got out of the house. Thank God Murphey made it. Where would we all be without Murphey? And all three members of The Geek Room emerged unscathed. Whew. Strap-on tragically lost his voluminous VHS porn collection. Real tears were shed.

For the record, we were a dirty bunch of bastards who'd rather f**k than fight.
And that's all I have to say about the matter.

LOL. Pike, Teke, Phi Delt and PKT. Hadn't thought about that lot in years. Phi Delt did whip our arse in softball though

the Pikes at ULM and Tech are (well, were) among the better ones on campus. Maybe they're good at smaller schools, not so much at the bigger ones.
