Not a bad idea to be proactive. Its 2020. Meeting in person is outdated

This Coronavirus freak out is proof that most people will do anything if it makes them feel safer, regardless of how ridiculous it may in hindsight look.

LSU is considering the possibility of suspending face-to-face instruction because of the novel coronavirus, officials said Saturday. "In the event local public health concerns warrant a decision to suspend face-to-face instruction, course instructors should be prepared to deliver courses remotely to the best of their ability," according to a memo from Matt Lee, vice provost for academic programs and support services. "As a short-term solution, the university has developed an instructional resource page providing tools on moving course materials to an online environment," Lee wrote.

How do you feel about this?

Study about proactive school closings during the 1918 flu.

These people deciding to close this universities arent just doing it on a hunch. They are analyzing data and deciding the best action. You arent smarter than them.

The panic is oddly entertaining. Reminds me of Y2K on steroids. But it's shocking at how easily people would want authoritarian rule at the drop of a hat.

Okay..

So you think its more important for them to go to class to listen to a lecture than to just pull it up on video and watch it?

Y2K panic was basically nonexistent and there was no social media back then either

Lol. Go live in a padded room and never leave then. The Spanish Flu killed between 17 and 50 million people. 17 people in this country have died of Coronavirus. You're the perfect example of someone who probably relishes in the fearmongering.

I dont get it. Are you saying this number wont increase? Are you saying what we're seeing in Italy wont happen here? Why do you think that?

Is it fear mongering if youre just looking at facts?

I am not sure how much this could help though.

I’d imagine most of the potential cross infection opportunities are at beer pong parties

This is crazy.
It's basically a bad version of the flu.
All this work from home shite is just an excuse to get out of showing up for work.

Italy is a country of 60 million people. There are 6,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 230 deaths. Is that something that warrants mass hysteria? No.

I think its good to be prepared. Ill use your example. Nasdaq was up and running very quickly after 9/11 because of the steps they took to be prepared for y2k.

We got high school and middle school teachers swapping bodily fluids outchea, and they're worried about giving a lecture in a huge classroom?

There was an older lady at Wally World yesterday that was in tears because they were sold out of Lysol.
