LSU all but forced them out. They emailed parents and students. They laid out what services would not be provided and also stated that if your child had no place to go that they would make arrangements for them. I don’t need the money , but don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining. This is a chicken shite way to do business. LSU broke the lease and is now using word games to justify paying less than full reimbursement.

I emailed LSU bursars first thing this morning. Got an auto reply about working remotely and response times would be longer than usual.
So I'm patiently waiting.
So I'm patiently waiting.

The penalty is 75% of the lowest priced room in your dorm, not necessarily your room type
The math still doesn't come close to adding up.
I mean they obviously put in a penalty, I'd just like someone to show me the exact computation.

Gonna be a lot of lawsuits if they don't clean this up. I can't believe this is actually a discussion.

Sounds like the Athletics Compliance Department is now running residential life.

I spoke to the Director of Financial & Human Resources for Residential Life. He said he prepared the figures for the administration and they were quite comfortable with their legal standing on this penalty. I didn't speak to the assistant director. I linked that Facebook post from a parent who posted their email correspondence with Residential Life.
Gotcha.
Just a head's up to everyone involved in this. You need to reach the top of the food chain. These people at LSU in the Assistant/Director type levels follow specific rules and a "that's how we've always done it" or "that's what line A. subsection 32 says" model.
ResLife reports up into Finance and Administrative Services which is run by Dan Layzell.
He reports duly into the Provost's Office and the President's Office. Layzell and his bosses have the authority to make real changes like this in consultation with the Board of Supervisors.
Hope this helps.

Aka, spam Dan’s email until he gets sick of his inbox getting flooded & actually does something about it.
