quote:I think you could call. However there is no point in traveling to Florida when there are tons of good neurosurgeons in California. Ask around for other people in the medical field who they would recommend. Regular people rarely know who is good or not.
Can I just call them, or do you need a referral?

I didn’t really have sciatic much until after he did those on me so I don’t know what to think but now my damn leg will hurt. Have no clue if I keep doing them if that will go away or not.

My discomfort has gotten worse since I started this whole journey about a month ago. Went from just occasional tingling to now discomfort and sciatic. The discomfort is for the most part constant, luckily the pain is intermittent.

I have a hard time sitting down. My back just starts flaring up.

Physical therapy and spinal injections.

I can’t sit for long either, my lower back gets uncomfortable and I can’t find a way to sit to get rid of it. I have to get up and start moving around. Luckily my pain isn’t unbearable or even bad, more of a nuisance. My lower back just feels odd all the time and I get tingling in my arse/legs. I just left my neurologist office, we’re now going to try some nerve medicine for a little while and see how it goes. I asked him about my degenerative disc since my ortho didn’t have much to say about it. He said it is a little earlier than he usually sees it but said we could do an MRI in 10 years and it will most likely look the same as it does now. Just said if my back is bothering me don’t over do it and put more stress on it. Said it’s pretty common at the L5-S1 where mine is. Going to keep doing PT and trying other conservative things and hope I can get adjusted and get this discomfort under control.

Same to you man, keep us posted. If we share info maybe we can all learn something that might benefit us. Also just got an inversion table, anxious to put that together and see what’s up with it.

Is everyones pain and discomfort all day, every day? None of the meds I've been given are helping.
I’m always in some level of discomfort. On good days, it’s low level & easy to ignore. Only really noticeable when I stand up after sitting for awhile or when I try turning over in bed. On bad days, it feels like some sort of electric jolt is trying to sever my hips from my torso. On bad days, NSAIDs don’t touch it. I haven’t asked for anything stronger, since opioids don’t do anything for me. I just use a heating pad & try to stretch and stay active.
It’s mentally draining & depressing to have a bad day after a few decent days. Like just when you start to get your hopes up, bam. Back to screwed. I know I have no advice here; just know you aren’t alone.

Added a couple of words and that describes my last marriage

How long have you been dealing with this?

Lol dbeck
RL: I’m not exactly sure. I’ve had occasional cases of “throwing out my back” for probably a decade or more, but I think that’s normal. It would always be better after a week or so. I can’t recall exactly when the nonstop pain started. More than a year ago, but less than two. I don’t know why I waited so long to go to the doctor. I guess I assumed it would eventually get better the first few months. Then I just kept thinking “yeah, I need to get checked out” but not going. I finally went last week and got x-rays/diagnosed, since it’s impacting my ability to do things I enjoy, like playing tennis. I’m glad to know it’s not all in my head, but it’s a bummer to know it’s something we will always have to very actively manage.

If you work with a bunch of college aged technicians for the majority of the session and see the actual PT for 10 minutes at the end it’s time to find a new PT.
Also, to the poster who said he had a tilted pelvic bone, there is a pretty good chance if the chiropractor told you that it is completely made up or subjective BS. That’s not a real thing, and even if your anatomy had shifted that much manipulation will not fix it. I would avoid chiropractors.

I had microdiscectomy at the Laser Spine place in nov...there are no lasers involved, just a marketing deal...
Had another esi yesterday because I'm battling scar tissue and inflammation.. im guessing I'll just be limited here on out.

Go to ANY chiropractor and they will do the following:
-take X-rays
-say you’re “out of alignment,” (not a real thing, if you were out of alignment you’d be unable to walk and urinating on yourself)
-they will say that they can fix it with heat/TENS (no medical research supports any benefit to these) and manipulations (very mild evidence supporting this and only for a very narrow scope of conditions and timeframe.)
-you will go there until you self discharge or quit paying. No one is ever “fixed” with chiropractic.
Great book called “Spin Doctors” about how these guys are basically the used car salesmen of the medical community.

Is there anyone else who doesn't have much pain, but has muscle spasms and just tingling/sensation changes? I have tingling and weird sensation changes in both legs and my groin sometimes and muscle spams in the same areas, but very little pain.

I don't have any tingling, but that seems to be a common symptom. Prior to x-ray confirmation from my doctor, my PT believed my issue was muscular, since I don't have tingling or pain down my legs.

I have disc issues as well as mid grade Spondylolisthesis. Used to have moderate issues when I was younger then a long stretch of no problems. Until this past weekend. Could barely get around until yesterday. In the last couple of days I've been doing the McKenzie stretch and its help tremendously. I also came across this traction bench which I will probably purchase. It seems like a good alternative to an inversion table. No need to hang upside down!
