Back pain can be signs of serious illness. My back and side have been hurting for months. I finally made the trip to the ER Wednesday. They found a tumor in my pancreas. They are saying that they caught it early before it could spread and hopefully it can be surgically removed. I have a biopsy scheduled for next week. Any OT DRs I'd appreciate any information. Not trying to hijack.

Damn. I'm sorry to hear that, ben. I have no recommendations, but I'm wishing you a speedy, successful treatment and recovery. I'm glad you caught it early.

That's awful, sorry that's happening to you. I hope you pull thru. Does that show up on xray or did you need more testing? I've only had an xray performed.

Hey, Ben. Not to be a dick, but pancreatic cancer is no mfing joke (I’m sure by now you know more about it than anyone here). I hope to hell they did catch it early enough to do something.

I would advise anyone with any type of cancer to research the effects of a keto diet on cancer growth. It has other benefits as well and doesn’t cost anything. There is also some anecdotal evidence out there that cbd oil can help both with the cancer and the chemo. I would consider a full-specturm approach.

Met with a back specialist on Friday. He basically just told me things I already know. Referring me to PT and gave me some muscle relaxers.

The past week I've been feeling pretty decent, but the pain came roaring back yesterday. I could hardly sleep last night. Do any of you have issues with sleeping?

I had trouble sleeping for a little while due to the sensation changes in my legs and sometimes the pain in my lower back.

At PT they have started dry needling me, I've done four sessions so far and I am starting to see noticeable improvement in my back pain. I still have bad days but I am starting to get more and more good days. If no one has tried this yet I urge you to maybe give it a shot.

I just found out today I have degenerative changes in my neck as well, degenerative spondylosis is what the report said. Seems to be just a general term for some degenerative changes to the discs. Feel like I'm falling apart literally haha.

Damn. I’ve been having more upper back/neck pain lately, so I suspect the same. Suuuucks! On the plus side, my lower back pain has been much better since starting PT & doing the stretches/exercises at home.

Anyone try TENS with the electo treatment on the muscles?

I wake up with what feels like a burning pain down my leg sometimes and have to get up and walk around to get the sensation to stop. Hate those nights

Awesome, I'm glad to hear that! PT really seems to be helping my lower back as well. Just have to stay in the habit of doing those exercises. I'm reviewing my neck MRI report with my PT tomorrow so hopefully there is something we can start doing with it.

Keep us posted!! I need to add some neck stretches to my routine.

There are a lot of days where I don’t really feel like doing the stretches. I remind myself that I haven’t felt this good in a year, and pull out the yoga mat.

How long have you been dealing with it? Like you, sitting down is a major struggle for me right now.

I took a hit on my tailbone in HS. I went low dive to grab a pass in the end zone and the LB put the crown of his helmet on my butt and apparently the third or fourth disc up took most of the energy. Didn't find that out until I was about 35 when I just couldn't deal with the chronic pain any longer. I'm 65 now.

My orthopedist discouraged surgery and gave me several exercises to target specific areas and to do when I sensed problems coming. Also mechanics of proper lifting.

I've only had about four bad reoccurrences which required pain and muscle relaxant Rx. Minor flare ups warrant ibuprofen.

In the last five years I've used Tumeric/Curcumin as a supplement which had dramatically reduced my pain inflammation issues with football damaged knees and shoulder. It has also been very helpful with the back and disc.

That's what I've got. Prayers and I wish you the best. DDD can be tough.

Lose weight and exercise. When the discs wear out you have to strengthen the muscles to protect and provide support.

I'm glad youre starting to get some relief! Turns out the discs in my neck are fine, but I actually have bone spurs growing which are closing in on the nerve roots in the C3-C4 and C4-C5 area. My PT says that they usually do not see this in people until way later in life he was kind of surprised. He is now adding neck therapy on top of my lower back.
There an exercise with my lower back that you push yourself up into extension while laying on your stomach. well for the past little while I decided to start doing that with my neck as well, thinking it would be good for my discs. Apparently my thinking was incorrect and I may have cause these bone spurs to start acting up by doing that, so hopefully with some neck stretches and excercises I can get this under control too.
Lower back is still in progress, have some days with virtually no pain and then the next with some mild pain.
