Got cells rotating in CENLA and SPC doesn't even have the area under a marginal risk today.

Next warning up looks like it'll be the cell just crossing I-49 south of Natchitoches

I drove to Alexandria from NOLA today after spending the holiday with my family... and the clouds were SCREAMING across the sky on my drive

I'm definitely not a fan of how everything is looking

Marine layer generally seems to protect LA south of I10 from the really severe stuff

With the mesos firing wayyyyy earlier than I thought will this reduce the fuel in the atmosphere later on for people further east or is the source per say limitless atm?

Source is the gulf, so pretty limitless. Still won't be a ton of instability. As the secondary low on the southend of this system develops, it'll be the shear that makes the future potential.

I am surprised they've fired so well today though.

Hey Duke! How are you and the baby doing? Wouldn't be 2020 without 1 more severe weather threat.

Just as the little one was about sleeping through the night, she starts the teething process early. So I get anger and drool for half the night. She's pretty delightful otherwise and it's making my wife crazy I'm her favorite.

I know it's 2020, but this is pretty typical for this time of year. Start getting those cold air masses intruding down to the gulf coast and it mixes with the gulf air.

I'll say this, the January pattern could yield some interesting weather down this way and for all of the eastern USA. There's a big block setting up over Greenland and with the polar vortex being disrupted by a sudden stratospheric warming, could get some polar air funnel down this way.

I can make our baby girl laugh her arse off at the silliest shite but she barely smiles for my wife. It pisses my wife off and I love it

NWS Lake Charles guy saying he wouldn't be surprised if a "moderate risk" (4/5) area gets added by the morning update
