Different people value different things, so these types of rankings are usually bullshite.
However, Louisiana has a lot of problems and could be a great state with better leadership.

It’s impossible for a state like Louisiana to be worse than states like Mississippi and Alabama when we have a world famous city, New Orleans. I don’t give a shite what you rednecks think of New Orleans. It’s a FACT that nola is world renowned and our tourism is world famous. Nobody from Asia or Europe is traveling to fricking Mississippi/Alabama anytime soon.

It might be if not for Mississippi and Alabama; and north of I-10 isn't really any different. New Orleans, the food, the fishing, and just the general culture. I'd much rather live among cajun catholics than redneck baptists, and I've done each for a couple of decades.

This state could improve in many ways. However, there is no way it's worse than West Virginia. I worked there for a few months a few years ago. Was the most depressing place I've ever been.

Yes, it is. B'ham is better than any city in LA or MS. Mobile is smaller, but nicer and safer than NOLA or BR. Our beaches are beautiful.

La has a shitton of problems and a lot of nimrods live here, so I make the best of it.
Oil and Gas pays well (especially the office jobs like mine) and I like being close to family and friends. Houston would of course be the logical choice for a move, but my kids are going to have to get done with high school before I will consider it.
I will take living by New Orleans and the hospitality of south La over some plain jane place just to say I live in a better state.
