I agree with you but don't act like this entire thread hasn't been filled with myself and many others pointing out the fact that we're a week out from this.
Fact is, when both of these particular models agree on something this far out, it's a decently safe bet that SOMETHING will come to fruition. Again, it's important to watch the trends with these two models, not their actual output.

Temp forecasts are generally accurate around here more than two days out. If this holds over the weekend, monday will be the day to pucker up baw

I'm not, I'm just once again pointing it out. From run to run sometimes I have to remind myself that there is still a more likely chance that none of this will happen.

If we are talking hurricanes, absolutely. Southern winter storms fart in and out like crazy though.
The thought of that much freezing rain is wild though.

Freezing rain is reason enough alone to have natural gas. With the power off you can at least cook something and have a hot shower.

Ultimately, even if not 14 degrees it’s going to be uncomfortably cold. The precipitation is the major wildcard

Power will be off for 2 months if this happens

If Baton Rouge gets anywhere close to that amount of FREEZING RAIN we will be out of power for two weeks.
Verbatim, that map would spell widespread destruction of electric providing infrastructure on par with hurricanes but more widespread. Luckily, it's over done by a lot as surface temps are marginal and air above the surface is absolutely torching.

Say what? Really? How can the temperatures at the surface be so low but above the surface be considerably higher? Seems like this cold air will be entrenched enough ahead of time to not allow for that but I'm not a pro at this stuff. Could you explain further?

20 degrees isn’t uncomfortably cold. Grow a pair

Love y'all, but you can keep the ice.
I can handle snow. I can handle shitty cold temperatures. But ice is such a pain in the arse.

Not surprised. Nashville is smack dab in the middle of the ice belt.

Reminds me of when I was stationed in Florida and we would get a new A1C who was from up north.
We would try and tell them it is a different kind of cold down here but would pretty much hear comments like the one above.
Then they found out what wet cold feels like

Depends on wind.
Wind is the killer, otherwise 20 degrees is easy to dress for.

shite. The coldest I've ever been is -22. Have experienced my fair share of negative temp stretches even in Kentucky. It's still uncomfortably cold at 20 degrees.

I’m from Louisiana. I know what a wet cold is like. And it’s not uncomfortably cold. Throw on a heavy coat and you’re good to go.

Cold air is dense, it sinks. If the layer is really shallow, the warm air overrides it. Pretty common phenomenon. Temperature inversions.
We have that exact situation here right now. Snowed about a foot, then warm air overrode the thin, cooler and the snow turned to freezing rain.

Dallas looking to get any of this?
