Louisiana’s handling of the vaccine shouldn’t surprise anyone. I feel for you, though. They spent a year telling us how dangerous the virus is for people like you and now an option is available to help safeguard those at high risk and they’re giving it away to those that are low risk.

Maybe the virus isn’t that serious after all.

Just say that you work at a day care and go take the vaccine? Do they really check?

Oh, and I would be totally against my wife getting this vaccine if she was pregnant.

They should ask a lot of questions of their doctor before getting this vaccine. Not sure why a healthy, pregnant woman would want to.

curious how many vaccines have been wasted by other states. never been involved in any of this kind of stuff but, is it normal to lose/waste hundreds of doses?

You have issue with this why?

Because transmission from children is basically nonexistent. But that “science” is not convenient and would result in things getting back to normal sooner.

Nope they don't even ask for ID. I know three people who have gone this week and there is a facebook group with people getting them daily in MS with no problems.

If you believe it really is a matter of life and death it isn't hard to use a printer and create a letterhead for a daycare or home health company. The people giving them out just want to give them out they arent detectives.

Look, nothing against pregnant women of any age because they deserve all the care in the world but what fricking sense does it make to believe a pregnant 15 year old is more deserving of the vaccine than me, a 160lb 35 year old, with a heart condition?

They are really just trying to apportion by expected risk. They aren't evaluating case by case because there's no time.

You are probably higher risk because of your heart condition. But generally, pregnancy places a huge strain on your body.

Is there a governor out there with rules in place that would allow you a vaccine? A road trip may be in order.

No, however one of the issues with the Phizer and Moderna vaccines is the temperature they have to be stored at so there will be waste as a result of storage errors or equipment failures. There is also the problem with people not showing up for their appointments. Since a thawed vial has to be thrown out within 6 hours of being opened if people don't show up then it causes waste. There has been discussion about allowing thawed doses to be given outside of those strictly eligible to prevent the waste but I am not sure if it has been allowed in any states.

This is 100% false. Children can transmit it just as easily as adults can, they just aren't affected by the virus nearly as much as adults are.

In fact, my friend's mom who recently DIED of covid caught it from her 6 year old grandson.

But schools/daycares being hit hard by workers getting COVID via other avenues cripples the parents ability to work because the schools must shut down.

I would gladly do that BUT are they not verifying residency and such? Seems like there would be some sort of checks & balances in place for it.

says more than 61,000 vaccine doses administered at nursing homes in Louisiana. He says 83% of residents have received doses, and only 38% of staff at the facilities. #lalege #lago

This is fricking bullshite
We can’t visit our family members as long as there are positive cases within the facility although residents have been vaccinated (2nd shot was 2 weeks ago)
Either make staff vaccinations mandatory or open up

This is a much better argument than what the unions have been throwing out there.

I can attest. My kid got booted this past weekend from daycare because his teacher was positive. Sorta worked out with the end of the world in TX.

Got any Cherokee Indian in you? The EBCI has vaccinated everyone over 30 that wants a vaccine and has begun to vaccinate spouses.

Are we really bitching about teachers and pregnant women instead of smokers and severe obesity?
